DescriptionThe Office of Housing Stability is seeking to fill a Human Services Representative position with an individual who has strong customer service and communication skills, the ability to learn complex programs, and the desire to serve the community. Interested candidates will need to be able to handle a high level of demanding situations while engaging in frequent client interaction.Current Hennepin County employees who refer a candidate hired into an open competitive position may be eligible for a $500 referral bonus. For more information visit employee referral program.Location and hours:This position is hybrid and will be performed both on-site at one of the Hennepin County Human Service Center locations, and remote as job duties require. Work shifts are scheduled between the hours of 7:00 am and 6:00 pm. These positions may require weekend and holiday shifts. While these positions are designated as hybrid, based on current requirements hires must reside in or relocate to Minnesota or Wisconsin.New employees who are hired into remote or hybrid positions between January 2, 2022, to December 31, 2024, will receive $500 toward the cost of establishing consistent internet connectivity, payable upon completion of 6 months of employment.About this position type:This is a full-time, benefit earning position.This position is internally classified as a Human Services Representative.Click here to view the job classification specification.In this position, you will:* Interact with clients and others to obtain information needed to determine eligibility and review new information for completeness* Review benefits and resources with families entering or in shelter and aid in applying for or connecting with benefits and resources* Create relationships with service providers to connect clients to resources that will aid in their progress towards obtaining permanent housing.* Work with the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) to accurately report and collect data.* Help establish case plans and goals with clients aimed at resolving barriers to obtaining permanent housing* Make appropriate referrals.* Share knowledge with team members and other staff and work closely with shelter team and system-wide family shelters and service providers.* Assist other county staff, both within and outside of the team, to help assure excellent client service.* Participate in ongoing training and development.* Work from a trauma informed, person centered, strengths-based lensNeed to have:* One of the following:* Two or more years of experience providing customer/client service.* Completion of a Public Welfare Financial Worker Associate of Arts and Sciences (A.A.S) degree from an approved school.* One year of the required experience and completion of the Human Services Pathway Training Program.* 60 or more semester credits in human services or the behavioral sciences such as psychology, sociology, social work, or a related field.Daily access to reliable transportation sufficient to travel to the Hennepin County Human Service Center locations. Nice to have:* Experience providing person-centered customer service including the use of empathy and trauma-informed skills.* Ability to:* Utilize a computer for document management such as uploads and downloads.* Comprehend complex program guidelines.* Learn and adapt to new computer software and platforms such as HMIS, MAXIS, ECF, etc.* Handle conflict and challenging communication, showing diplomacy and professionalism.Candidates with fluency in another language(s) in addition to English are encouraged to apply.
