HVAC - Non-LicensedJOB STATUS: UNTIL FILLED POSTING DATE: 08/09/2024 POSTING NUMBER: 00006737 LOCATION: Maintenance & Grounds POSITION TITLE: HVAC - Non-LicensedJOB DESCRIPTION:PRIMARY PURPOSE:Under general supervision, maintain, repair and install heating and air conditioning systems and equipment throughout the District. Maintain and provide for the safe condition and operation of all HVAC systems in District.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:Diagnose and repair malfunctions in various types of heating and air conditioning systems, including RTU'sInstall new heating and air conditioning systems and componentsRelocate and expand existing HVAC systems as neededRepair, replace and calibrate controls, thermostats, switches, fuses and electrical wiringFabricate, assemble and install ductwork and piping according to specifications and codeWire and connect motors, compressors, temperature controls, and humidity controls according to wiring schematics.Maintain Freon dispensing records to meet federal requirementsMaintain preventive maintenance schedules and procedures for all HVAC equipment, including changing of filters and cleaning condensers and coilsPerform duct cleaning.Assist energy manager to complete energy conservation surveys to realize most efficient, cost-effective use of HVAC energyReceive and complete work orders, accurately recording time and materials used.Select material and hardware and make time and materials estimates.Maintain inventory of district owned tools, equipment and materialsInspect projects upon completion and ensure areas are cleanWork with building principals and supervisors to complete projectsDetect needed repairs on equipment following established inspection proceduresRespond to emergency calls as neededPerform all work within generally accepted industry standards and applicable codesSAFETY:Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipmentOperate tools and equipment according to established safety proceduresEnsure that equipment is in safe operating conditionFollow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting and climbingCorrect unsafe conditions in work area and report any uncorrectable conditions to supervisor immediatelyWORKING CONDITIONS:Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:Tools/Equipment Used:Meter, gauges, welding equipment, ladder, hoist, hand and power tools, pipe bender, propane torch, light van or truck; tools, tool pouch, step ladders, machine parts, pumps, freon drums, large extension ladders, compressors, leak detectors, manifold gauges, and voltmetersPosture:Prolonged standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting. Work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Continuous driving vehicles; continuous working with machinery. Frequent district wide travelMotion: Continual walkingLifting: Heavy lifting and carrying.Environment:Work inside and outside; exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity; exposed to electrical energy; work around machinery with moving parts, work around moving objects, working on roof tops, in boiler rooms and cooling towers.Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress: work prolonged or irregular hoursEVALUATION:Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board Policy on Evaluations of At-Will employees.PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE:Minimum Experience: Three HVAC repair/installation/maintenance experienceREQUIREMENTS:Education:High School diploma or GEDHVAC trade school certificate and/or applicable experience acceptable by the districtSpecial Knowledge/Skills:Knowledge of HVAC repairs, maintenance and installation techniquesAbility to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics and written reference materialAbility to perform mathematical calculationsAbility to diagnose and resolve problemsAbility to use hand and power toolsValid Texas driver's licenseCONTACT INFORMATION: Reports to: HVAC - Lead APPLY TO: SALARY: Pay grade: Maintenance (203) DAYS: 260
