Job Details:

Purpose

Provide HVAC support for the Applied Research Laboratories.

Responsibilities
  • Repair, maintenance, and installation of HVAC systems at ARL and LTTS.

  • Building maintenance and repairs in areas such as refrigeration systems, plumbing, air compressors, ice machines and installing and changing water filters.

  • Assist in construction projects including carpentry, painting, furniture and assembly.

  • Logistics support including moving furniture and equipment.

  • Operate construction equipment such as forklifts and vehicles.

  • Effectively use computer systems, software applications such as SharePoint and Excel to track all HVAC related equipment's maintenance schedule

  • Other related functions as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • HS graduation or GED.

  • Three years of journeyman level HVAC experience.

  • At least two years practical experience in repair, maintenance and installation of air conditioning and refrigeration equipment.

  • Flexibility to work in other fields of construction such as assisting in building construction.

  • Demonstrated ability to use tools required for the job.

  • The successful candidate will possess the ability to follow through andcomplete jobs assigned and use construction tools and equipment safely as well as perform work with accuracy.

  • Ability to work independently with sensitive and confidential information, maintain a professional demeanor, work as a team member without daily supervision and effectively communicate with all groups of clients.

  • Must have worked on and have knowledge of electronic and pneumatic controls, calibration, and proper use of test equipment to verify performance.

  • Able to work under pressure and accept supervision.

  • Regular and punctual attendance, may also need to be available to work additional hours other than regularly scheduled hours.

US Citizen. Applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information at the level appropriate to the project requirements of the position.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Completion of HVAC related technical courses.

  • Completion of construction and maintenance technical courses.

  • More than three years of journey level experience with HVAC maintenance and repair.

  • Texas Licensed Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Contractor, Class A or B, or Texas Certified ACR technician with 5 years practical experience in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration work.

  • Texas Certification to Purchase Refrigerant Products.

  • Demonstrated leadership role on multidisciplinary construction projects.

Driving Required

This job requires a class C operator's driver's license. The applicant selected must provide a current three year driving record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, a Texas driver's license must be obtained within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident. Employees who are required to have a CDL are subject to drug and alcohol testing (pre-employment, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, random, return-to-duty, and follow-up drug and alcohol testing).

Salary Range

$50,000-$54,000+/negotiable based on qualifications.
