Supervisor: Lead HVAC TechnicianSupervisory Responsibilities: nonePosition Status: Hourly, exempt, full-time, 12-month positionHours of Work: Standard work week; evening and weekend work is required.ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs daily activities of the HVAC Department involving physical inspections of buildings and equipment to ensure proper functionality of HVAC systems.
- Repairs and maintains existing HVAC equipment, including air handlers, chilling and heating systems, air quality equipment (including energy recovery make-up, exhausted air systems, and laboratory vent hoods), pumps, motors, valves, and other associated HVAC equipment.
- Checks chemical treatment of HVAC systems.
- Executes the department's workflow and priorities through the electronic Work Order system.
- Inspects and evaluates the condition of mechanical equipment in existing buildings and recommends corrective action.
- Coordinates the work of contractors as they relate to HVAC repairs or upgrades.
- Reviews and inspects work performed by outside contractors.
- Maintains preventative maintenance programs for all mechanical and HVAC equipment. Monitors, inspects, and ensures preventative maintenance programs achieve set goals.
- Handles refrigerant and manages refrigeration log according to applicable laws and safety rules.
- Provides technical assistance in the diagnosis and repair of mechanical systems.
- Manages internal building temperatures through the Building Automation System (ALC) based on the occupation schedule. Manages off-hours building setbacks for energy conservation efforts.
- Provides emergency response as required - during the regular shift and after hours.
- Participates in appropriate employee safety training.
- Ensures the workshop area is cleaned and organized daily.
- Maintains tools and equipment in safe and good working order.
- Complies with all safety practices, procedures, and rules.
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Specialized degree program or certificate and EPA universal certification.
- 1-3 years experience in controls/BMS systems, with ALC experience preferred.
- 1-3 years experience in chillers and boiler operation/installation.
- Experience in preventative maintenance programs and operation.
- Knowledge of methods, materials, and equipment used in installing, repairing, and maintaining refrigeration and air handling equipment.
- Knowledge of the practices, procedures, and safety precautions of the HVAC trade.
- 5-7 years of experience as an HVAC technician in the commercial setting.
- GED or High School Diploma
- Valid GA Driver's License
- Customer-service oriented.
- Flexible and willing to take initiative and handle extra duties as needed.

- Basic computer skills with the ability to use an iPad or similar device for completing work orders, checking emails, etc.
