Job Description:

GENERAL DUTIES:

The Clerical Assistant for Energy Programs is generally responsible for providing assistance to the Director of Energy Efficiency & Housing on a variety of programmatic, client, and consumer issues related to assigned programs, including the Home Weatherization Assistance Program (HWAP), First Energy/Community Connections, Project HOPE, PRC Home Repair Services, Housewarming, USF/Electric Partnership Program, the Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP), the City of Kent Furnace Replacement Program, and others that may be developed from time to time.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

* All clerical functions for Energy and Housing Programs, including copying, filing, maintaining clients files, answering client calls;

* Maintain call back, customer complaint log, and review with Director of Energy and Housing and/or Energy Efficiency staff weekly;

* Provides for or assists with or performs all client intake services under Energy and Housing Programs, including processing applications for all programs, income/ownership verification, landlord contacts, & related activities;

* Provides follow-up activities for all energy efficiency and home repair programs.

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES

* Assures program compliance with all applicable funding sources;

* Mail (e-mail) applications to customer requests

* Maintain mail log for outgoing mail for energy efficiency and housing programs;

* Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

QUALIFICATIONS

* Two (2) years experience in a social service or customer service organization; familiarity and belief in the need for energy conservation, efficiency, and innovation a definite plus;

* Must possess high school diploma or equivalent; and must be able to complete additional training as needed

* Must be familiar with computer operations in a Windows environment and be able to utilize Office programming including Word, Excel, Access, and others as needed;

* Sensitivity to needs of low-income individuals and families and commitment to social justice;

* Good organizational skills.

* Must possess excellent communication skills-including written and verbal skills-and be able to positively interact with staff, low-income, elderly, youth, minorities, and other organizations;

* Must be able to comprehend all local, state, and federal government policies and regulations as they relate to program operations and personnel;

QUALIFICATIONS continued

* Must be able to work independent of close supervision and possess strong decision making abilities;

* Must possess and maintain valid Ohio Driver's License, show proof of vehicle insurance, possess reliable transportation, and be insurable/bondable under agency insurance policies. Failure to maintain above may be grounds for termination;

* Must be willing to travel for various workshops, meetings, and training; some overnight travel may be required; and

* Must be sensitive to the needs and problems of the low-income, elderly, and handicapped residents of Portage County.

SALARY AND BENEFITS:

Salary range existing for position; placement in that range contingent upon available funding. Is generally a full-time position but may be part-time if adequate funding is not available. Schedule:

* 8 hour shift

* Monday to Friday
