Essential Functions HENDERSON WATER UTLITY CLASSIFICATION SPECIFICATIONCLASSIFICATION TITLE: HWU IT SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATORPURPOSE OF CLASSIFICATIONThis classification's purpose is to aid in administering Henderson Water Utility (HWU) computer hardware and software systems, active directory domain, and network equipment and to provide technical support to staff regarding data processing needs.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSThe following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all- inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.•Meets with department staff to discuss and assess the data processing needs of the department.•Provide primary user hardware and software support.•Provide technical support to end-users on hardware, software, and network-related issues.•Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of servers, workstations, printers, and networking equipment and associated software.•Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure optimal uptime and performance.•Implement security measures to protect the organization's data and infrastructure.•Perform routine backups and disaster recovery procedures to safeguard critical information.•Collaborate with other IT team members to identify areas for improvement and implement solutions.•Document IT procedures, configurations, and troubleshooting steps for future reference.•Stay informed about emerging technologies and industry best practices to enhance the organization's IT capabilities.•Occasionally responsible for installing, terminating, and testing Ethernet cabling to maintain network infrastructure integrity.•Ensure adherence to ethical standards and best practices in all aspects of IT system administration, including data privacy, security protocols, and professional conduct.•Review new programs and software; test software developed or purchased by the department.•Perform routine maintenance on computer system hardware, software, and peripherals.•Maintaining regular and predictable in-person attendance during regular business hours at Henderson Water Utility is required.•Must undergo and successfully complete drug test and alcohol screening prior to employment and undergo and successfully complete future drug test and/or alcohol screening pursuant to the City's Drug and Alcohol policy.•Assist Automation with various projects, computer, network, and server systems as required.ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONSPerforms other duties as assigned.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS•Associate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field supplemented by three(3) years of previous relevant experience and/or training.•Strong understanding of computer systems, networks, and operating systems.•Familiarity with Microsoft Windows, iPadOS, and iOS operating systems.•Basic knowledge of TCP/IP networking protocols and services (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, etc.).•Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.•Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.•Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.•Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator) are a plus but not required.PERFORMANCE APTITUDESData Utilization: Requires the ability to review, classify, categorize, prioritize, and/or analyze data.
