Position Summary: The Hyperbaric Tech, under the direction of the Program Director of the Hyperbaric Medicine Department, administers hyperbaric oxygen therapy to patients as prescribed by the Hyperbaric Physician or Non-Physician Provider.Minimum Qualifications:EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Completion of Introductory Hyperbaric Training Course, as approved by the National Board of Diving and Hyperbaric Medical Technology, Department of Defense, American College of Hyperbaric Medicine or Undersea & Hyperbaric Medical Society within 90 days of hire.
  • Pre or post hire completion of an approved Hyperbaric Oxygen (HBO) Safety course. If pre-hire, the course completion must be within the past 5 years from date of hire. If post-hire, completion must be within 180 days of hire.
  • Current healthcare professional certification or license - to maintain throughout the duration of employment in this role. This applies to:
    • Respiratory Therapist
    • Military: Corpsman or Medical Services Specialist
    • Emergency Medical Technician or Paramedic
    • Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, or Licensed Vocational Nurse
    • Certified Hyperbaric Specialist
    • Certified Hyperbaric Registered Nurse
    • Certified or Registered Medical Assistant -must become Certified Hyperbaric Specialist (CHS) within one year of hire
    • Certified Hyperbaric Technologist
    • Certified Nursing Assistant - must become Certified Hyperbaric Specialist (CHS) within one year of hire
    • Certified Hyperbaric Wound Specialist
    • Physical Therapist or Physical Therapy Assistant
    • Or completion of Hyperbaric Training from US Department of Defense (DOD):
      • g. US Navy, Army or Coast Guard Diver (1rst Class, 2nd Class or Master designation)
      • or US Air Force Aerospace Physiology Specialist
  • Maintains and demonstrates competency in BLS (Basic Life Support), infections control, safety and all unit required skill review.
  • Complete competencies skill checklist
CERTIFICATE/LICENSE
  • Active license/certificate as applicable in one of the above disciplines.
