Job Description:
JOB DUTIESPrepare patients for HBO treatment using the current safety and clinical protocols. Maintain complete and accurate patient records/charts as they pertain to treatment documentation.Reinforce education as it relates to HBO therapy (for patients and staff).Perform hyperbaric chamber operations as required including safety checks.Perform duties and procedures as directed by supervisor/medical director.Participate in quality improvement programs.Reviews departmental policies/procedures annually as they relate HBO.Maintain competencies, continuing education, and certifications as deemed necessary.Is designated as the HBO Safety Officer for HBO department; Presents and coordinates education on safety and emergency procedures to Wound Clinic staff as it relates to HBO.Maintains current NCD/Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine Guidelines for Treatment of patients with HBO.Assists in the general operations of the wound clinic by doing CNA duties, assisting the office coordinator as needed, when not busy with HBO duties.Demonstrates the ability to provide specific dietary considerations for the pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients and makes appropriate dietary referrals when indicated.SPECIFIC JOB DEMANDSPosition requires the ability to walk and stand most of the day. Must be able to turn, twist, and bend repetitively during the day. Must be able to lift and maneuver up to 200 pounds with proper body mechanics.Able to carry, push, pull, and handle patients in addition to multiple pieces of equipment such as oxygen and air tanks. Ability to use hands, fingers to manipulate controls and tools is required. Able to visually accommodate with good color vision, depth perception, and wide field of vision.MINIMUM EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIREDMust have prior experience as an RTT, LPN, RN, Military Corpsman, EMT/Paramedic, or CHT. Must hold current BLS certification. Must attend HBO introductory course within 6 months of employment and obtain CHT (Certified Hyperbaric Technician) credentials within 18 months of employment. Must obtain CEU's to maintain CHT credentials.WORKING CONDITIONSNormal patient care environment with little exposure to excessive noised, dust, and temperate changes.
