Job Description:
Our client is looking for an I & E Electrician. As an electrician you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures. You will make sure that work is in accordance with relevant codes. At times you may install or service lights, intercom systems, or electrical control systems or even work on high voltage electrical systems.This company has an aging work force and several types of electrical positions are opening up.One is an Instrumentation Electrician (I&E) that works on electrical panels, drives, flow meters, pressure bulbs and other equipment that does calibrations and programming, working on up to 460v.The other is a higher level role that works on high voltage electricity, working on the main electrical power source, switch gear and feeders up to 13.6 kv.Pay will be determined by which of these you are a fit for. The high voltage role pays more.These are some of the duties that these jobs entail:- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical distribution systems including electric motors, and electric controls on systems < 460V for the I&E role and up to 13,600V for the High Voltage Electrician.- Ensure emergency electrical systems are operational; perform certification testing on alarm systems.- Monitor work done by outside contractors for adherence to NEC (National Electric Code) and reports back to supervisor.- Maintain appropriate service and repair records.- Assist with purchases and inventories for equipment parts, chemicals and supplies.- Respond to routine and emergency calls for repairs and service.- Read blueprints or technical diagrams before doing work.- Inspect electrical components, such as transformers and circuit breakers to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustments or repairs, and to ensure compliance with codes. - Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous. - Identify electrical problems with a variety of testing devices.- Repair or replace wiring, equipment, or fixtures using hand tools and power tools.- Follow state and local building regulations based on the NEC and applicable Ascend Performance Materials standards.- Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes. - Possess basic mechanical skills with the ability to assist Maintenance Mechanics as needed.- Work from ladders, scaffolds, and roofs to install, maintain or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures. - Comply with all safety/health related policies and procedures, participate in company sponsored safety programs and activities, and report to management those conditions or actions by employees or others that might create a hazard to themselves or others in the plant. Report any work-related injury or illness, no matter how minor, to their supervisor or lead. - Maintain housekeeping on assigned machines and in areas. - Assist in machine start-ups and shutdowns. - Must be able to work call-ins, unscheduled hours, and overtime as needed.
