Job DescriptionJob DescriptionSUMMARY: The overall responsibility of an Ice Cream Maker is to ensure the store is adequately stocked with ice cream (including non-dairy & sugar-free), yogurt, sorbet, sherbet and Italian ice on a daily basis.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.1. Adhere to the recipes and processes of Bruster's Real Ice Cream2. Produce ice cream (including non-dairy & sugar-free), yogurt, sorbet, sherbet and Italian ice3. Maintain cleanliness of work area4. Possess working knowledge of ice cream making equipment5. Clean & sanitize ice cream making equipment6. Complete flavor sheet daily7. Scoop ice cream on an as-needed basisSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None. Employee may provide leadership to other employees who are being trained to make ice cream.QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Prior food/ice cream preparation experience is helpful.LANGUAGE SKILLS: Must possess well-developed verbal skills sufficient to communicate effectively with employees and customers as needed.MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Must possess math skills sufficient to complete paperwork, comprehend recipes and adjust measurements as needed.OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: The position of Ice Cream Maker requires organization, cleanliness and attention to detail.PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is frequently required to taste or smell.Employee must possess or develop both the manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to scoop and portion all of our retail and wholesale products, most times without the aid of measuring devices, due to the volume of sales we may encounter.Employee must be able to maneuver in a tight and sometimes congested working environment, both quickly and without creating a hazard.Position requires frequent lifting up to 50 lbs. maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 lbs. Employee is also exposed to extreme cold occasionally when entering the walk-in freezer. The employee also frequently comes into contact with hot water while cleaning and sanitizing tools and containers, and the extreme heat of the waffle iron while baking waffle cones. The noise level in this work environment is usually moderate and occasionally loud.OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS:The employee must maintain an orderly, clean and safe work area; properly care for company property; and maintain proper conduct befitting a business environment.
