Job Title: iLEAD: Diversity Coordinator - Fashion Show Assistant DirectorGeneral purpose: The Assistant Director of the Fashion Show works in tandem with the Director in order to curate a vision for Culture & Identity's Annual Benefit Fashion Show. They are a constant support to the Director and help to assess and determine the needs of the team.
Summary of Essential Functions- Support the event management team in making timely arrangements for successful execution of the fashion show
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:- Assist the director with curating the fashion show, photo shoots, marketing, advertising, meetings, etc.
- Create a theme for the show in collaboration with the Director and Culture & Identity leadership team.
- Assist with organizing the photo shoot, designer interviews, and the promotion events/publications.
- Organize documents for meetings and other administrative assignments.
- Assess and evaluate the needs and wants for the designers
- Actively participate in designer critiques.
- Schedule individual check in meetings with designers.
- Supervise the volunteers - schedule meetings, delegate tasks before, during, after the show.
- Analyze weekly reports to anticipate upcoming issues to help the team anticipate and avoid problems.
- Coordinate biweekly meetings with the Assistant Director and Culture & Identity leadership team.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications- Experience and knowledge in the fields of fashion and event management
- Remain in good social and academic standing with a minimum GPA of 2.5
- Must be a currently enrolled MICA [undergraduate/graduate] full-time student at the time of employment
- Is a 2nd year or higher undergraduate student OR a 1st year or higher graduate student
- A sincere desire to support Culture & Identity events and MICA
Preferred Qualifications- Proficient at adapting to changes and incorporating novel/innovative ideas to work
- Superior task management abilities that help fulfill responsibilities
- Ability to respond to emergencies and risks promptly and responsibly
- Effective communication skills that help take orders and delegate responsibilities
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:- Experience and knowledge in the fields of fashion and event management
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- People-person interested in leadership and holding themselves and others to timelines
- Detail-oriented and diligent to follow-up and complete tasks for assigned projects.
- Diligent, Organized and able to provide both practical and creative leadership
- Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities to meet deadlines. Proficient in social media platforms.
Conditions of Employment:- Work evenings/weekends as required.
- Attend &/or coordinate REQUIRED events: Joint Leadership Training, Fall & Spring DC Leadership Retreat, Culture & Identity programming (Identity Exhibitions, Annual Fashion Show)
- Student employees may work no more than 20 hours per week across all on-campus positions.
