The Fountain Group is currently seeking a Mechanical Design Technician III for a prominent client of ours. This position is located in Wilmington, NC. Details for the position are as follows: Title: Mechanical Design Technician IIILocation: Wilmington, NC 28405, USADuration: 12+ MonthsHourly Rate on W2: $31/hr. Job Description:PURPOSE OF POSITION:A. Provide mechanical equipment designs and layouts which meet Corning Machine Drafting Standards on CAD based formats. (AutoCAD® 2023, Inventor 2023)B. Create new documentation to complete drawing packages, equipment builds packages, machine part lists, illustrations, and machine specs of production equipment.C. Modify existing documentation to complete drawing packages, equipment builds packages, machine part lists, illustrations, and machine specs of production equipment.D. Assemble complete machine design packages from existing Plant files, checking drawings for accuracy and adding detail and assembly drawings where necessary.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: (Majority of time will be spent at a CAD station working on designs)A. Re-design mechanical components to reduce installation cost, solve equipment interferences, and correct inadequate designs.B. Create, review, and update installation documentation and drawings as required.C. Redline existing drawings and follow-up with drafting services or oversee draftsmen as required to resolve design issues.D. Execute changes in design to solve equipment/process issues.E. Take personal responsibility for all aspects of ensuring designs meet form, fit, and function goals established by internal customers and project manager.F. Provide sketches or marked-up drawings as dictated by project and evolutionary equipment needs.DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCEEducation required:AAS Mechanical Engineering Technology, BS Mechanical Engineering Technology, BS Mechanical Engineering (Equivalent work experience may be considered in rare circumstances.)Experience required: Minimum 5+ years of experienceSkill or work style preferred:A. Self-motivatedB. Results orientedC. Ability to handle multiple prioritiesD. Ability to work well with varied job requirementsE. Ability to work well in small teams is essentialF. Well organizedG. GD&T understanding and experienceH. Proficient with pneumatic and electrical schematicsI. Thorough understanding of mechanical drive trains, electrical and pneumatic actuatorsUnique or special requirements:A. Capable of generating a full drawing package for typical industrial equipment from assembly to detailed drawings.B. Thorough understanding of mechanical equipment/systems to enable proper new designs or modifications to be existing.C. Routinely performs elementary design calculations, i.e., statics, hydraulics, power transmission, etc.Equipment or software experience preferred:Windows, MS Office suite including Power Point, Excel, Word, AutoCAD® 2023, Vault, Inventor 2023Travel Requirements:There may be a need to travel to the Concord Plant to collect drawing/equipment information or similar at an equipment vendor, but this would be rare.Position will require minimal time spent on the floor gathering info on existing equipmentEquipment familiarization preferred:A. Personal ComputersB. Precision measurement devices such as Tape Measure, Calipers, Micrometers, etc.C.
