: Works under the supervision of a higher classified employee, coordinates immunization and vaccine preventable disease program activities. Plans and oversees clinic schedule, staffing, biologic distribution, community outreach, reporting and follow-up of all immunization activities. Serves as community resource person regarding immunization activities and works closely with local media agencies coordinating related health functions. Serves as a public health nurse as assigned. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES Essential Duties:* Plans and coordinates immunization plan, direction and evaluation of outputs.* Plans and coordination clinic activities, hours of operation and staff training.* Serves as immunization liaison, with Michigan Department of Community Health (MDCH), schools, other medical providers, and the community at large, responding to inquiries regarding immunizations and vaccine preventable diseases.* Performs outreach activities, reviewing lab data and immunization history to identify persons at risk or unknown to program.* Oversees the maintenance of immunization records and statistics, preparing various reports to inform administration of current program status and needs.* Orients staff and interested community representatives to immunization program, and related TB and communicable disease programs.* Assesses immunization activities to determine needs for medical supervision or other clinical follow-up.NURSE COORDINATOR* Oversees accounting and payments for biological distribution and for schedules. Projects budget needs.* Prepares written reports in narrative and group format.* Performs the duties of a Public Health Nurse as work loads, temporary absences or necessity dictates.* Performs other related duties as assigned.The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees assigned this classification. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Duties require sufficient mobility to work in a normal office setting and community environments where staff are assigned, and use standard office equipment including a computer, vision to read printed materials and a VDT screen and hearing and speech sufficient to communicate in person or over the telephone. Duties may require handling of blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious materials. These requirements may be accommodated for otherwise qualified individuals requiring and requesting such accommodations. EDUCATION Possession of a Bachelor's degree or the equivalent in Nursing. EXPERIENCE A minimum of one (1) to two (2) years of public health nursing experience, or the equivalent. Six month break-in period. NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS Current Michigan registered nurse license. Possession of valid Michigan vehicle operator's license.
