Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.Preferred QualificationsPosition SummaryThe Implementation Specialist is a critical team member on a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)-funded Georgia High Obesity Program. The Georgia High Obesity Program includes working in 10 counties in Georgia to implement evidence-based strategies for food and nutrition security, safe and accessible physical activity, and family healthy weight programs. The implementation specialist will work with the principal investigator and Centers for Disease Control to develop and execute an implementation plan that ensures the adoption and implementation of strategies across counties. The Implementation Specialist will adjust the plan as needed to adapt to budget constraints while ensuring project milestones and performance measures are met. The implementation specialist will be the primary person responsible for strategy implementation and ensuring effective partnerships with project academic faculty, staff and students; cooperative extension faculty and staff; and community partners. The project implementation specialist will work with the principal investigator and evaluation specialist to ensure that all required reporting is submitted to the Centers for Disease Control including the annual cooperative agreement continuation application and work plan. They will be the primary liaison to the CDC Program Officer and other funded programs from the CDC's Division of Nutrition, Physical Activity, and Obesity including REACH () and SPAN (). The Implementation Specialist will report directly to the Principal Investigator (PI).Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
  • Demonstrated success in managing complex grant projects, including institutional review board approval; development of project protocols; establishing, monitoring, and meeting project goals and benchmarks.
  • Previous experience in developing and executing marketing and communication campaigns for projects.
  • Display strong oral and written communication skills with attention to detail and able to create project reports, presentations, and publications.
  • Capable of working independently and with a large and diverse team including the ability to delegate tasks to faculty, staff, and students.
  • Previous experience interacting with a broad and underrepresented populace.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.

  • Develop, implement, and monitor the progress of the project work plan for all project strategies across 10 counties including adherence to the project timeline.
  • Ensure strategies are implemented with CDC guidance, UGA policies, and project protocols.
  • Develop or modify project policies and procedures, as needed.

  • Oversee day-to-day tasks including coordinating activities with project faculty, staff, and students; maintaining regular communication with project partners; and delegating tasks to appropriate team members.
