Air Freight Import Entry Writer

Overview:

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Air Freight Import Entry Writer to join our team in New York. This role focuses on managing logistics and documentation for importing goods via air, ensuring compliance with international trade regulations. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the freight forwarding industry and excellent organizational and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of air import shipments from origin to destination.
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of documentation, including bills of lading, commercial invoices, and packing lists.
  • Serve as the primary contact for clients regarding import shipments, providing exceptional customer service by addressing inquiries and resolving issues.
  • Ensure compliance with all U.S. and international import regulations and laws, staying updated on regulatory changes and implementing necessary adjustments.
  • Communicate and coordinate with carriers, customs brokers, and overseas agents to ensure smooth and timely cargo movement.
  • Maintain strong relationships with service providers and negotiate rates when necessary.
  • Prepare and process all required import documentation accurately and in a timely manner, maintaining detailed records of all transactions and correspondence.
  • Monitor and track shipments to ensure timely delivery, addressing any delays or issues promptly.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Generate and analyze shipment reports for management review, providing regular updates on shipment status and any issues impacting delivery timelines.
  • Proactively identify potential issues in the import process and develop solutions to mitigate risks, handling and resolving customer complaints and disputes efficiently and professionally.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in air import operations within the freight forwarding industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of U.S. and international import regulations and documentation requirements.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to manage multiple shipments simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in freight forwarding software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Working Conditions:

  • Full-time position based in New York.
  • Standard office hours with occasional overtime as needed.
  • Some travel may be required for client meetings or industry events.
