In-House Architect
: Job Details :

Gaston Real Estate Investment Company, a small business in downtown Columbia, is searching for an in-house Architect. Our portfolio consists of ~140 residential & commercial rental units owned by the company. Mainly focused on student housing near the University of South Carolina campus.

We are looking to expand with more infill development of 1-4 unit throughout Downtown Columbia.

Quick & Dirty Job Description:

1. Find sites for us to build infill development.

2. Design unique, creative housing w/in budget.

3. Work with interior designer to pick out finishes + materials.

The perfect person for this is likely someone who wanted to be an architect because of the creativity involved - but feels that their current job is lacking the ability to scratch that itch.

·85k base - up to 135k in total comp (can be customized package to include benefits important to you)

·Creativity is a big deal here - we want someone who wants to do unique projects. Everything *must* stand out.

·Majority of projects will be within 2-3 miles of Downtown Columbia

·Company has a small team of 5 people - this position will work directly with the owner of the company

·Most of the job will be finding sites, value-engineering plans, and working with vendors to get

Toughest part about the job:

This is a new position - we're going to have to jump out of the airplane, and build the parachute on the way down.

Minimum requirements?

· A burning desire to build a portfolio of creative projects

· 2+ years of architectural experience

· 4-year college degree

· Willing to work On-Site when needed in Downtown Columbia

What other experience could be helpful?

·Construction experience

·Property Management experience

·Interior design experience

·A South Carolina real estate license

·A network of good subcontractors
