In this position, you will provide legal counsel in corporate finance, employment, international ventures and partnerships, and compliance counsel on the company's responsibilities under privacy and data protection statutes, including the General Data Protection Regulation. This would also include drafting agreements to ensure compliance with applicable laws. In addition, this position will concentrate on complicated and evolving regulations and statutes that control everything associated with data transferred and held on computers, including client protection regulations, privacy statutes, and e-discovery matters.The attorney in this domain will offer legal guidance on all corporate matters issues as well as online privacy, cyber security, data mining, and data breach protocols. They further counsel on the law relating to mobile platforms, web technologies, emerging technologies, e-commerce, information technology, e-business, competitive intelligence, mobile payments, and trade secrets.ResponsibilitiesGive accurate and timely counsel to executives in a variety of legal topics (labor law, partnerships, M&A, international ventures, corporate finance etc.)Collaborate with management to devise efficient defense strategiesSpecify internal governance policies and regularly monitor complianceGDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) including:Presenting data infringement notifications.Demanding the approval of people before processing private data.Managing the transfer of data across borders in a protected manner.Demanding personal data be destroyed when the business no longer requires it or upon demand by a person.Having an unambiguous privacy statement.Data privacy assessment and designCompliance, record-keeping, and auditingData governance standardsObtain consent for data accumulation, destruction, and retentionData infringement responsibilities and reportingResearch and evaluate different risk factors regarding business decisions and operationsApply effective risk management techniques and offer proactive advice on possible legal issuesCommunicate and negotiate with external parties (regulators, external counsel, public authority etc.), creating relations of trustDraft and solidify agreements, contracts and other legal documents to ensure the company's full legal rightsDeal with complex matters with multiple stakeholders and forcesProvide clarification on legal language or specifications to everyone in the organizationConduct your work with integrity and responsibilityMaintain current knowledge of alterations in legislationCoordinate with external legal counsel, as neededRequirementsProven experience as a Legal Counsel in business environmentExperience in privacy and data protection in online advertising industry preferredJ.D. / MBA degreeExperience as either in-house counsel or at a law firm serving as general counsel across all corporate law, as well as working knowledge of GDPR and compliance experiencePreferred experience in litigation, securities litigation, etc.Excellent knowledge and understanding of corporate law and procedures, and experience managing outside counselFull comprehension of the influences of the external environment of a corporationDemonstrated ability to create legal defensive or proactive strategiesHigh degree of professional ethics and integritySound judgment and ability to analyze situations and informationOutstanding communication skillsDE, TX or NY Bar preferredBenefits100% Employer Paid Health, Dental and Vision coverage for Employees401(k) at a 4% match4 Weeks PTOHome office equipment reimbursementAbout OBMediaWe are a small, profitable company that has been working remotely long before it became trendy.
