Job Description:

In-School IT Tech Support - New York, NY Job Description: We are seeking a highly motivated in-person IT Tech person to provide hands-on technical support and assistance at PS 154, a public school located at 250 W 127th St, New York, NY 10027. As our IT Tech person, you will play a vital role in maintaining and troubleshooting technology-related issues within the school. This position is scheduled to run Mondays and Thursdays from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM starting on October 17, 2024 and ending on January 30, 2025. Qualifications:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in IT support, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Strong knowledge of hardware, software, and network systems.
  • Experience with device inventory management and data management.
  • Familiarity with SMART Boards, iPads, and other educational technology.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical staff.
  • Patience and a customer-service-oriented attitude.
Responsibilities:
  • IT Support:
    • Provide timely and effective technical support to staff and students.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network issues.
    • Assist with setup and configuration of computer systems and applications.
  • Hardware/Software/Network Maintenance:
    • Maintain and update school hardware and software.
    • Ensure network connectivity and resolve network-related issues.
    • Perform regular maintenance checks on all technology equipment.
  • Device Collection and Inventory:
    • Manage the inventory of all technological devices within the school.
    • Collect and organize devices at the end of each term or as required.
    • Maintain accurate records of device distribution and condition.
  • Data Management:
    • Ensure the security and confidentiality of school data.
    • Assist with data backups and recovery processes.
    • Manage data storage solutions and access permissions.
  • SMART Board/iPad Maintenance:
    • Perform routine maintenance and updates on SMART Boards and iPads.
    • Provide support for teachers using SMART Boards and iPads in their classrooms.
    • Ensure all interactive technology is functioning properly.
  • Cleaning and Maintaining Devices and Device Storage Units:
    • Regularly clean and sanitize devices to ensure they are in good working condition.
    • Maintain and organize device storage units for easy access and security.
    • Implement procedures for safe handling and storage of all equipment.
  • Compensation & Benefits:
    • Competitive pay rate of $22/hr with the opportunity to earn $24.20/hr* with a completion bonus.
    • Education Champions are not paid during school breaks (Winter Break, Spring Break, etc.).
    • Education Champions will be required to attend one 30-minute event per quarter and complete 5 minutes of asynchronous training per week.
