Research Associate is proficient in animal procedures/animal husbandry, grant, internal, and/or contract research studies according to the study protocols and to the company guidelines and standard operating procedures (SOPs).MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:•Proficient as a primary technician and in all aspects of a study cycle including, but not limited to:
  • Primary Technician role and responsibility on multiple basic and complex studies.
  • Orders and setups materials and supplies as required for projects;
  • Forms and study books preparation;
  • Dose calculation/verification;
  • Proficient technical skills (e.g. administration, blood collection, necropsy, etc.) ranging from basic to intermediate;
      • Must be proficient (3-5 years) in major dosing routes - IV, IP, SC, IM, PO
      • Must be proficient (3-5 years) in sample collection - Submandibular, RO, Cardiac, Tail vein, Tissue
  • Anesthesia monitoring and use of anesthetics;
  • Observes, records, and reports atypical findings to veterinary staff or senior personnel;
  • Performs data quality control review according to SOPs or study protocols;
  • may function as a designated trainer.
  • Complies with all regulatory guidelines, occupational health as well as health and safety programs, in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Prior CRO experience is a plus.
  • Performs all other duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Education & Work Experience•AS or BS Degree in Science (or equivalent degree) preferred.•Certifications preferred: ALAT, LAT, LATGResearch Associate I: 1 or 2 years of experience in laboratory animal science experienceResearch Associate II: 3-5 years of experience in related laboratory animal scienceResearch Associate III: 5+ years of experience in laboratory animal science experienceAn equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactoryPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:•Physical dexterity to lift 50 - 100 lb. in weight.•Manual dexterity to operate facility equipment.•Visual acuity to handle potentially hazardous chemicals, cleaners, biologics (including, but not limited to direct handling of human byproducts and viruses) and/or sharps.ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS:•Biological safety level (BSL) 1 and 2 laboratory and vivarium settings.BENEFITS:
