As an Income Maintenance Caseworker for our Schuylkill County Assistance Office, you will be responsible for determining applicants' eligibility for financial assistance, Medicaid, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), nursing home care, and waivers, as well as any additional programs the Department of Human Services (DHS) administers. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

Upon completion of an 8-week Income Maintenance Standard Training Program (IMSTP) at a regional training center, you will perform your job duties in an office environment. In this position, you will be helping people in our local community by determining their eligibility for DHS programs. You will use top-notch customer service skills to interview customers via phone or in person, then review the information to make an eligibility determination. Making these determinations requires program knowledge and application of internal policies, recording information in our databases, and performing manual calculations. This essential, time-sensitive work needs to comply in accordance with federal and state policy. Interested in learning more? Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
    • May change based on operational needs.
  • Travel and overtime as needed.
  • Work conditions: Assigned duties are performed in a controlled office environment. In counties with district offices, employees may be reassigned to different work sites due to operational needs. Reassignments will be made in compliance with contract language.
  • Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. Please Note: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $50,836.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Four years of experience in interviewing or work requiring the analysis and interpretation of data; or
  • A bachelor's degree; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
