Job Summary: Bubble is seeking an experienced Industrial Designer to join the creative and design team. Our ideal candidate has a passion for design in all its forms, impeccable taste, and a compelling skill set, including an extraordinary sense of aesthetics concept development, strong sketching abilities, strong 3D modeling for concepting, prototyping and production, an understanding of a variety of manufacturing processes, as well as the ability to translate brand values into great products. The job requires strategic thinking, visionary storytelling, exceptional ideation through sketching and rendering, and an understanding of a variety of manufacturing processes and materials. The Industrial Designer will report to the VP of Creative and Brand, primarily working on product and packaging as well as visual merchandising displays. Key Responsibilities: Product Development: Participate in the full product development from research and early concept exploration, to product execution and launch. Support the creation of production-ready 3D CAD databases for hand off. Active participant and driving force in complete product development cycle. Retail Display Design: Design state-of-the art retail displays that elevate and differentiate Bubble in mass, beauty, popup, and specialty retail environments. Strategic Thinking: Bring the brand strategy to life through design. Consistently solve problems in ways that are aligned with Bubble's larger mission and goals. Vision: Elevate design at Bubble, finding new and innovative ways to connect with our audience through physical experiences. Thoughtful: Anticipate the needs, questions, and concerns of our customers. Create mindfully and with the highest respect for Bubble's target audience. Technical Proficiency: Continuously lead CAD development and 3D rendering, delivering technical documents to outside suppliers for the development process. Collaboration: Work closely with graphic designers and product developers as well as the operations, marketing, and engineering. Be receptive to feedback from company leaders across different departments. Foster a collaborative, kind, and innovative environment. Detail Obsessed: Adhere to guidelines and systems. Correct inconsistencies across the brand. Product and Packaging: Design the brand's playful and recognizable packaging. Lead the ideation, conceptualization, and execution of all 3D packaging design projects. Retail Display Design: Conceptualize and execute compelling and eye-catching designs for Ulta, Boots, Walmart, and future retailers. Comfortable in Chaos: Bubble is a fast-moving startup, and our work is often full of ambiguity. The people who thrive at Bubble are the ones who are curious, proactive, and imaginative. Market Research: Stay up-to-date with industry trends, market research, and competitor analysis to ensure that our messaging remains relevant and competitive. Qualifications:
  • Portfolio that demonstrates relevant design experience working in the beauty industry or consumer goods
  • Strong portfolio that demonstrates superior taste and a mastery of 3D design, from ideation to execution
  • Degree in Industrial Design or equivalent experience
  • Concept, Strategy, Sketching and Rendering hands-on design skills
  • 3D CAD/surface and solid modeling proficiency (Solidworks preferred)
  • Adobe Creative Suite proficiency
  • Excellent communication skills, both through digital tools and IRL
  • Ability to work in the NYC office 3 days per week
  • Bonus if you know Blender or Cinema4D
