Industrial Electric, Inc. - Safety Coordinator
Responsibilities
As a Safety Coordinator, your key responsibility will be to manage and enforce IEI's Safety Program for the assigned project(s) by identifying, eliminating, and controlling hazardous conditions that may lead to injury and/or property damage. By using and enforcing job specific safety standards, best management practices, and IEI's safety program, the Safety Coordinator shall ensure the safety of all persons and property on the job site resulting in an accident/incident free project.
This will be a full-time position. Interested applicants must be reliable, motivated, self-sufficient, and meet the following criteria:
A. Education
* Conduct weekly Toolbox Safety Meeting' and document content and attendance.
* Conduct Safety Orientation for new employees.
* Advise project staff on site specific safety issues/guideline.
* Evaluate the need for safety training and make recommendations.
* Ability to train employees in the following and be considered a competent person for these areas:
*
* Aerial Lifts
* Confined Spaces
* Trenching/Excavation
* Forklifts (Standard & Rough Terrain)
* Electrical & Lockout/Tagout (NFPA 70E)
* Company New Hire Orientation
B. Jobsite
* Enforce safe work practices and safe working conditions in accordance with all State, Federal, Local regulations (including OSHA), as well as Wilhelm company policies and owner/contractual requirements.
* Be able to assess situations in the field and develop a plan with employees to move forward safely.
* Conduct daily and/or weekly (as appropriate or specified by job) job site inspections.
* Record observations from site inspections and complete required reports.
* Investigate, corroborate, document, all accidents, incidents, and near misses on the jobsite.
* Recommend and implement corrective action based on policies, guidelines, and laws.

What it takes
* Bilingual (English and Spanish) - REQUIRED
* Have a degree in occupational safety and health or related degree.
* Received an OSHA 30 Hour Construction card in the past 5 years.
* Certifications in the industry a plus
* 5 years of experience in the construction industry, with a safety background.
* Must pass background and motor vehicle checks.
