Whether you are looking for an assembly position or a career in manufacturing management, you can thrive as a member of our team.INDUSTRIAL ENGINEER JOB SUMMARY: The industrial engineer will work with the Corporate Engineering team to develop and evaluate assembly processes based on customer requirements (Product, Quality, and Throughput). Represent department interests with the implementation of new processes, equipment and systems. Act as a plant liaison to make sure lessons learned, best practices, and plant goals are driven back into Corporate Engineering processes. Participate in the adoption of new technologies and processes to achieve greater efficiency. Ensure that new and existing programs meet or exceed customer throughput and labor requirements. Develop industrial engineering inputs to our process development systems. Collaborate and train plants or use this common method and tools. Support Plant Engineering improvement initiatives. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop industrial engineering processes to improve our process development processes and change management processes.
  • Develop and maintain element times for our standard machine designs.
  • Work with Corporate Manufacturing Engineering team in developing process matrix for new quotes and programs.
  • Support Change Management process by collaborating with Plant engineers to make sure that lessons learned, best practices, and plant goals are driven into the new production process being developed.
  • Provide Industrial Engineering guidance and support to ensure that the resultant assembly processes, tooling and equipment will improve throughput, scrap/rework reduction, reduce cost, and improve quality and reliability.
  • Work with simulations technician to plan and validate processes and changes and improve our simulation inputs.
  • Act as a safety advocate being vigilant continually assessing risk in our operations.
  • Promote health and safety in all phases of engineering and launch.
  • Collaborate with PC&L team to optimize material flow to and from production line.
  • Support corporate engineering at equipment certification and run-offs to validate throughput and labor requirements.
  • Prepare equipment operators by assisting launch team with training; providing reference and support resources.
  • Maintain process integrity by developing and updating policies, procedures, methods, guidelines, standards and systems.
  • Prevent waste and inefficiency in production processes.
  • Design efficient systems that integrate workers, information, machines, energy and materials.
  • Design equipment and processes to maximize available time and labor utilization.
  • Design, develop and maintain manufacturing routes to maximize effectiveness, efficiency and space.
  • Develop standards for production and design by working with clients and management.
  • All other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering
  • Experience: 5+ years in automotive manufacturing engineering

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • General understanding of assembly processes (sequencing, subassembly, shipping and receiving, and tooling).
  • Strong knowledge of tooling, equipment, automation, engineering specifications, and cost reduction in automotive assembly applications.
  • High level of analytical ability and problem solving skills where problems are unusual and difficult.
  • Familiar with functionality of production data collection systems.
  • Ability to use statistical methods to analyze data.
  • Understanding of automotive Manufacturing and Quality Systems.
  • Strong decision-making skills with ability to grasp technical concepts quickly.
  • Proficient with GD&T process diagrams, PFMEA, and Control Plans.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with all team members - manufacturing, engineering, program management, executive leadership, etc.
  • High level computer skills to include Windows applications, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerBI and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge and understanding of ProModel software.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD is a plus.
  • Knowledge of torque equipment is a plus.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of production processes, costs, quality control, raw materials and other methods for maximizing the efficient manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Advanced knowledge of machines and tools, their designs, uses, repair and maintenance.
  • Ability to design and understand process timing, pillar charts and simulations.
  • Knowledge of the ways various systems interact and how changes in operations, the environment and other conditions will affect outcomes.
