The Industrial Forklift Operator responsibilities include safety, quality of product produced, and effective operation of the sawmill stacker outfeed area. All individuals assigned to the Forklift will work in a safe, efficient and effective manner to insure the production of a quality product. To achieve this level of operations all employees are required to comply with all applicable Plant safety rules. Areas of Responsibility
- Safe Operation of Sawmill Forklift
- Maintain the Stacker Outfeed area, including strapping packs of lumber
- Ensure all pre-shift forklift inspections are done and turned in daily to maintenance for any maintenance
- Transport lumber packs throughout the sawmill in a safe manner
- Inspects lumber packs for damage
- Assists the stacker outfeed area as needed to maximize the setup and operation of the stacker in a timely manner.
- All other duties as assigned
Accountabilities
- Ensure lumber packs are ready for drying with banding, cross outs, and general appearance
- Ability to operate a forklift
- Ensure all pre-shift forklift inspections are done and turned in daily to maintenance for any maintenance
- Housekeeping at stacker area
Education & Qualification:
- High School Degree or equivalent minimally required
- Minimum of 2 years of forklift experience, preferably in a sawmill role
Skills & Ability
- Strong work ethic and ability to work well under pressure
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must have ability to bend, kneel, crawl, push, pull, reach, climb and carry various materials and equipment.
Schedule
- Monday to Friday 1st shift
- Some weekends and holidays required
- Willing to work overtime as required
