Your role will involve hands-on participation in new material introductions, capital projects, and various safety initiatives.You'll have the chance to lead and influence safety practices, provide valuable insights, and contribute to the development and maintenance of robust Health Safety programs. Responsibilities Include:- Lead safety initiatives in support of Momentive's EHS strategies including development of leading indicators, Industrial Hygiene quantitative risk assessments, improved risk awareness, and development of associates to achieve an independent safety culture.
- Lead risk assessment activities and drive resolution to potential employee exposures related to chemical, noise, and ergonomics.
- Drive ergonomic team activities and support ergonomic improvements across the facility.
- Serve as plant resource in performing incident investigations using root cause analysis and investigation tools/methods to identify causes and to determine how such accidents might be prevented in the future.
- Implement and maintain IH policies and procedures as defined by corporate management system. Confirm each department understands and follows applicable standards.
- Lead small projects and supporting large projects for IH as they develop or during planning of management of change.
- Prepare annual budget to support industrial hygiene activities.
- Manage Industrial Hygiene Program including chemical monitoring, asbestos control, noise and hearing conservation programs, Personal Protective Equipment, radiation safety, and associated monitoring, testing, reporting, and documentation associated with OSHA and NRC compliance.
- Inspect or evaluate workplace environments, equipment, or practices to ensure compliance with safety standards and government regulations
- Investigate the adequacy of ventilation, exhaust equipment, lighting, or other conditions that could affect employee health, comfort, or performance
- Recommend measures to help protect workers from potentially hazardous work methods, processes, or materials.
- Conduct safety training or education programs and demonstrate the use of safety equipment.
- Develop or maintain hygiene programs, such as noise surveys, continuous atmosphere monitoring, ventilation surveys, or asbestos management plans
- Investigate health-related complaints and inspect facilities to ensure that they comply with public health legislation and regulations.
- Collaborate with engineers or physicians to institute control or remedial measures for hazardous or potentially hazardous conditions or equipment.
- Collect samples of hazardous materials or arrange for sample collection.
- Collect samples of dust, gases, vapors, or other potentially toxic materials for analysis.
- Order suspension of activities that pose threats to workers' health or safety i.e., stop work .
- Prepare IH test samples for transportation.
- Be trained and serve as a site backup to PSM engineer to perform PHA studies as needed to ensure compliance.
- Perform laboratory analyses or physical inspections of samples.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, bend, stoop, climb, twist, turn, grasp and move about the facility. Walking, walking on irregular surfaces and balancing will be required. Hearing, sight to include depth perception and color vision and the ability to speak clearly will be required. Occasionally lifting and/or move up to 50 lbs. and the ability to comply with PPE requirements (ability to pass a fittest and wear a respirator is required for certain positions/locations). The environment for this position is a Manufacturing setting, with exposure to outside weather conditions and loud noise. Candidates should be able to adapt to a traditional business environment. Qualifications:The following are required for the role• Bachelor's Degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Science, or Engineering• 1+ years of relevant industrial hygiene/safety and health experience.• Knowledge of chemical manufacturing processes, maintenance systems and operational techniques• Strong knowledge of and experience working with OSHA regulations and industry standards such as ACGIH, NIOSH, NFPA, ANSI.• Knowledge in advanced manufacturing technology (automation) and chemicals. • Problem solving and analytical skills.• Must be comfortable working in a team setting.• Expertise in analyzing and evaluating technical data, test results, and reports.• Positive attitude, self-driven, strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated effectiveness in accomplishing goals.• Excellent organizational, communication, and computer skills• Ability to work flexible hours occasionally.
The following are preferred for this role• 3+ years of relevant industrial hygiene/safety and health experience.• Experience implementing industrial hygiene sampling programs• ASP (Associate Safety Professional), CSP (Certified Safety Professional), CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist) or willingness to become certified.#LI-NG1
What We Offer:Base Pay Range: $82,500 - $120,450The actual salary offered is determined by factors including but not limited to education, experience, skill sets, and geography. Local geographic pay differentials may not be reflected in the above pay range and will be discussed with you by a member of the HR team when applicable.
