SummaryServes as the Industrial Maintenance Supervisor for the Nogales Field Office and the Nogales International Wastewater Treatment Plant (NIWTP), Operations and Maintenance Division (OMD), in the Operations Department (OD) of the United States Section, International Boundary and Water Commission (USIBWC).   • Plans and assists with the acquisition of necessary maintenance supplies, materials, equipment, and fuels.

Requirements Conditions of Employment
  • You must be a U.S. Citizen or Naturalized U.S. Citizen.
  • You may be required to serve a one-year supervisory probationary period.
  • You may be required to serve a one-year probationary period.
  • You must possess and maintain a valid Driver License, without impeding restrictions, and issued by a U.S. state, the District of Columbia, or a U.S. territory.

  • You must be able to lift and carry up to 44 pounds unassisted, and over 45 pounds with assistance; sustain periods of walking, bending, standing, crouching, stretching, and reaching.

Applications received after this date will be given consideration only if there is a need for further review.Minimum Qualification Requirement - To qualify, there is no specific length of training or experience required; however, your resume must demonstrate enough experience to show your ability to perform the duties of a Industrial Maintenance Supervisor - Open Until Filled without more than normal supervision.Examples of experience include: providing recommendations and participating in the development of an annual facility work plan; planning and assisting with the acquisition of necessary maintenance supplies, materials, equipment, and fuels; completing inventory of existing supplies and materials; updating records and documents of all preventive and corrective maintenance activities; skill in disassembling, repairing, and rebuilding component parts of pumps, motors, and general maintenance equipment; skill in the use and application of standard formulas, shop mathematics, trade theories, and industry practices in calculating needed materials and problem solving; assigning work to employees and providing technical direction in accomplishing difficult work steps and processes; establishing and maintaining internal control systems to ensure accuracy of inventory, and physical and human resources are safeguarded; composing and submitting weekly field progress reports to management; providing scopes of work, performance work statements, estimates, and material and labor costs; planning, scheduling, and documenting all preventive maintenance activities for assigned equipment; ensuring fairness and equity of all personnel practices; developing training and development plans, and requesting training and development; preparing employee performance plans and completing annual assessments/ratings; counseling employees and resolving grievances; scheduling and approving leave, and maintaining time and attendance records; skill in written and oral communications in order to complete reports, direct subordinates, and interact effectively with a variety of people; planning and conducting a facility safety program; planning and coordinating Safety and Health meetings; identifying and resolving unsafe working conditions and unsafe work practices; ensuring the enforcement of fire prevention rules; ability to operate a motor vehicle such as a sedan, pickup, or sport utility vehicle.The following summarizes the qualification standard for this position found in the Job Qualifications System for Trades and Labor Occupations (Handbook X-118C) Physical Effort. The work is performed in a wastewater treatment facility and grounds and requires periodic moderate physical exertion while observing and participating in field work. This requires long periods of standing, walking, driving, bending, stooping, reaching, crawling, and similar activities. The work also involves periodic lifting and reaching, crawling, and similar activities. The work also requires periodic lifting and carrying of objects typically weighing up to 44 pounds, such as shop supplies, shop equipment, and office equipment and files. Heavier items are lifted with the assistance of others or with materials handling equipment.Working Environment. The work environment involves everyday activities which require normal safety precautions typical of Wastewater Treatment Facilities requiring to work indoors and outdoors in all types of weather. Unsanitary conditions require inoculations for tetanus, tuberculosis, Hepatitis Type A and Hepatitis Type B. Exposed to noise, vibrations, dirt, gaseous fumes, cleaning solvents, chemicals, oils, and grease. Exposed to the possibility of cuts, bruises, strains, broken bones, chemical burns, and other injuries. Uses safety equipment and protective clothing such as safety shoes, goggles, hearing protection, coveralls, gloves, face shields, hard hats, etc. The occasional use of self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) or face-fitted respirators is required, following a medical examination to determine any limitations to complying with this requirement. The NIWTP site is subject to occasional incursions of venomous spiders and snakes, vultures, and other wildlife indigenous to southern Arizona.EducationThis job does not have an education qualification requirement.Additional information
