INDUSTRIAL MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN (FLUID SYSTEMS)

The Industrial Maintenance Technician at SpaceX works in a fast-paced environment, where the extraordinary becomes the everyday. This position will oversee the installation and maintenance of our heavy industrial equipment such as cranes, elevators, and mega doors by third party contractors. This role will also be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our machinery and mechanical equipment as well as installing new equipment, performing regular services, performing maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting equipment breakdowns. As an industrial maintenance technician, you will utilize all tools at your disposal to ensure reliability of the industrial equipment and any associated support equipment. This will involve corrective, preventive and predictive maintenance techniques, as well as operational and design feedback for maintaining and improving all systems at the Cape Canaveral launch facilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Perform daily scheduled preventative maintenance or repairs of launch facility critical systems and components

* Provide feedback to leadership and engineering

* Ability to read and understand mechanical and electrical schematics

* Provide technician GSE support which involves building, installing, maintaining and troubleshooting equipment such as pumps, tanks, valves and plumbing related to the fluid aspects of the site facilities

* Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair equipment and instrumentation as needed

* Troubleshoot issues found during maintenance inspections of fluid and mechanical systems

* Operate and maintain hardware, high pressure systems and pumps, and other ancillary equipment including pneumatic components

* Operate heavy machinery including forklifts and aerial platforms

* Fabricate and repair GSE hardware and equipment

* Collaborate with design engineers to develop and document GSE activities

* Ensure all materials are clean and inspected according to Clean for Oxygen Service Standards

* Obtain and maintain licenses, operator permits or certifications as required

* Follow all necessary regulations and appropriate SpaceX procedures including quality policies, safety policies, OSHA, EPA, NIOSH, NFPA, ASME, NEC, etc.

* Develop ways to streamline processes and increase the reliability of testing operations

* Perform a variety of related duties in support of engine testing and structural test stand programs

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

* High school diploma or equivalency certificate

* 3+ years of professional experience in maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical, mechanical, fluid, or control systems

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

* 1+ years of experience working with high pressure pneumatic and/or hydraulic systems

* Associate degree in aerospace technology or equivalent area of study

* Previous professional experience maintaining and troubleshooting fluid and mechanical systems

* Ability to read, understand and follow detailed schematics, drawings, and instructions

* Ability to utilize precision measuring instruments

* Knowledge of different fittings such as natural pipe thread (NPT)

* Intermediate skill level using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook)

* Ability to rapidly change roles/responsibilities while working in a high-paced, challenging work environment

* Knowledge of high vacuum systems

* Knowledge of all types of borescope inspection equipment

* Knowledge of different fittings such as NPT and A/N

* Ability to utilize power tools and hand tools as well as heavy equipment

* Experience with precision measuring instruments

* Ability to read and understand mechanical and electrical schematics

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

* Ability to pass Air Force background check for Cape Canaveral

* Ability to become forklift and aerial platform certified

* Ability to perform job duties that require standing, kneeling, crouching, twisting upper body, working in cramped positions in small opening and climbing hand over hand, lifting 60 lbs., and working on ladders/lifts at elevated heights >80ft

* Schedule varies depending on site operational needs and flexibility required regarding frequent overtime including being on-call and occasional 2nd shift

* Valid driver's license

* Ability to work in extreme environments - heat, cold, rain, fumes, odors, and noise

* Ability to travel as necessary to support organizational needs

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Pay range:

Industrial Maintenance Technician/Level 1: $20.00 - $27.00/hour

Industrial Maintenance Technician/Level 2: $25.00 - $32.50/hour

Industrial Maintenance Technician/Level 3: $30.00 - $38.00/hour

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
