When you embark on a journey with us, you'll take pride in your work and the impact you have, while building a career with focus and purpose.The Industrial Plumber performs a wide variety of plumbing and mechanical functions specifically related to hospital water and sewer systems.The Plumber is responsible for maintenance of steam boilers, traps, lines, sterilizers and all laundry equipment including maintenance with working knowledge of HVAC systems, electricity and high voltage systems. Required to assist with other maintenance duties as needed. Performs corrective and preventative maintenance on all equipment as assigned and insures that this equipment functions as specified by the manufacturers. Maintains all water systems, gas systems, boilers, fire systems and sewer systems as well as maintains records which give a repair history for this equipment. Participates in the evaluation of any mechanical, electrical, or refrigeration equipment or component, which enters the hospital. Monitors and assists in the installation of all equipment installed in this facility by others such as vendors and contractors. Works with computerized building automation systems. Observes and actively participates in the safety lockout procedure. Reads and interprets blue prints, schematics and other drawings and maintains these for future reference. Uses all tools properly, keeping in mind safety to self and others. Constantly pursues the goal that all hospital equipment must operate correctly, the first time, every time. Insures that all plumbing and mechanical equipment in use, meets safety standards and applicable codes as well as DNV standards. Completes carpentry, electrical and mechanical repairs as required during the absence of the HVAC Tech or Electrician. Completes or assists others with maintenance functions such as electrical, carpentry or HVAC repairs Participates in the development of policies and procedures regarding preventative and corrective maintenance of all hospital systems and equipment. Recognizes situations when more advanced technical assistance is needed and seeks this assistance. Prioritizes work orders, so that the greatest patient care needs are met first, followed by preventative maintenance, then routine or low priority work. Completes work orders in a timely fashion, based on priority. Fills out requisitions for supplies, parts or equipment and maintains a limited inventory of needed items to avoid emergency orders, but does not overstock. Shares in after hours call duty as scheduled and responds within 30 minutes when called. May be required to work other shifts as needed. Within one year of employment, the employee will take the DOT HazMat training to satisfy DOT CFR 172.704, the certification must then be renewed every three years. Requirements High School Diploma or equivalent required. Must be able to respond within 30 minutes for on call duties. Journeyman level license required; Master Plumber preferred. Must have knowledge of State and Local codes and standards as it pertains to Plumbing operations. Must have ability to perceive three-dimensional forms when reading blueprints or installing and maintaining machinery. Must have ability to collect and interpret data from log books and repair records. Must have ability to communicate verbally and in writing in order to understand technical language and manuals used to install and maintain machinery and equipment.
