Job Description:
The Industrial Technician installs, maintains, and repairs machinery, equipment, physical structures, and electrical systems; leads teams of operators and supervisors in troubleshooting electrical and mechanical problems while in a time-constrained environment; isolates root causes of maintenance problems accurately and develops short-term expedient solutions to maintenance problems which keep the line operational until scheduled maintenance shutdown.Summary of essential job functions:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. Other duties may also be assigned.- Install and repair electrical apparatus, such as transformers and wiring, and electrical and electronic components of machinery- Build, calibrate, maintain, troubleshoot and repair electrical instruments and testing equipment- Develop, write and conduct documented Preventative Maintenance procedures to company standards.- Assemble electrical and electronic systems and prototypes according to engineering data and knowledge of electrical principles, using hand tools and measuring devices- Prepare charts, graphs and diagrams to illustrate workflow, routing, floor layouts, material handling and machine- Visually inspect and test machinery- Dismantle defective machines and equipment and install new and repaired parts- Repair and maintain physical structure- Install, program, or repair automated machinery and equipment such as robots or programmable controllers- Provide technical assistance and resolution when electrical problems are encountered before, during and after installation of parts and equipment- Receive work requests and complete specified tasks- Track parts usage and find stored parts- Maintains accurate work orders documentation of work conducted- Set up and operate test equipment to evaluate performance of developmental parts, assemblies and systems under simulated operating conditions, and record outcomes- Inspect all tools on site for safety and fitness for use- Record the punch list identifying emergency repairs needing immediate attention upon shutdown- Inspect/Repair/Recommend corrective actions on equipment- Use manuals to troubleshoot, PM and repair- In emergency situations, locate supplier and order parts using company purchasing guidelines- Analyze and interpret test information to resolve design-related issues- Modify electrical prototypes, parts, assemblies and systems to correct functional issues- Plan method and sequence of operations for developing and testing experimental electronic and electrical equipment and parts- Evaluate engineering proposals, shop drawings and design comments for sound electrical engineering practice and conformance with established safety and design criteria, and recommend their approval or disapproval- Prepare project cost and worktime- Review existing plant electrical systems and provide necessary revisions, deletions and amendments to outdated material. Propose new technology to replace outdated procedures- Prepare contracts and initiate, review and coordinate modifications to contract specifications and plans throughout the installation of equipment- Review installation of equipment areas to observe conditions impacting design and to identify solutions to technical design problems involving electrical systems equipment that arise during installation- Write commissioning procedures for electrical projects- Provide support to mechanical technicians when practical during repair- Operate cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal$27.81/hour, 5 - 10 hours overtime/week, Relocation assistance on a case by case basis.
