Position Type: General The Pennsylvania Key/Infant ECMH ConsultantDate Posted: 12/12/2024Location: To Be DeterminedSummary of position: The Infant Early Childhood Mental Health Consultant increases the understanding of social and emotional development and its impact on educational success, link and bridge systems and services on behalf of a child, family and program, and reduces the number of children expelled from early learning facilities due to behavior issues. This position is a field position and includes traveling to child care programs to provide consultation supports, etc. Early childhood system experience is preferred. Job Responsibilities (see attached job description for additional details):
  • The I/Early Childhood Mental Health Consultant (IECMHC) is responsible for providing early childhood mental health consultation to early childhood programs to support early childhood professionals, children, and families. I/ECMHC's emphasis is on improving child outcomes indirectly by enhancing caregivers' abilities to nurture children's social emotional development and addressing challenging behaviors.
  • General Child/Classroom/Program Observations, Consultation, and Coaching within early learning programs as assigned, including but not limited to Social Emotional screenings and other outcome measures as identified in program model and use findings to inform the action planning process
  • Work collaboratively with EC professional to design and implement practices responsive to the identified behavioral and mental health concerns of an identified child or group of children (classroom or program) which reflect consultee's/child's culture, skills, strengths, needs, and preferences
Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree (preferred) in human services related field (Psychology, Social Work, Early Childhood Education). BA with seven years of experience in the above fields considered.
  • Infant and/or Early Childhood Mental Health Endorsement (preferred) or willingness to obtain
  • At least five years of post-degree experience that includes: child mental health, related human service field or early childhood settings
  • Knowledge of child development, developmentally appropriate practice, infant/early childhood mental health
Schedule: Full-time, 37.5 hours/week, 12 months/year Salary: Established by the Intermediate Unit Board of Directors per the Compensation and Benefits Plan for PA Key, Classification - Education Specialist. Regional Location: Northeast Region of PA (Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and surrounding areas). Hired staff will work remotely from home office and travel to/from child care programs to provide consultation supports.Attachment(s):
