POSITION SUMMARY Infant and Toddler Caregivers are responsible for the education, supervision, and responsive care of infants and toddlers ages 2 months to 3 years old at the Steamboat Child Care Center - a year-round childcare center for SSRC employees. Our infant and toddler programs focus on relationship-based care where children stay with the same caregiver for up to 3 years. To support our primary caregiving approach, we try to move children and teachers from the infant classroom to the toddler classroom together whenever possible. Infant and Toddler Primary Caregivers must understand and follow all state rules and regulations and best practices for the infants and toddlers in their care. ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Provide a safe, healthy, and secure environment with an emphasis on children's social-emotional, physical, language, and cognitive needs
  • Perform daily child care duties as assigned including feeding, diapers, play, and naps
  • Ensure compliance with all legal requirements
  • Register in the PDIS and complete all required trainings including 15 hours of continuing education/year. Provide documentation to Director
  • Prepare and maintain classroom and play materials
  • Attend all staff meetings and trainings
  • Supervise, mentor, and direct assistant teachers and subs/floaters
  • Work with our early childhood coach, early learning specialists, and families to create and implement behavior plans for children with challenging behavior
  • Work cooperatively on a team with other teaching professionals
  • Provide positive guidance and redirection
  • Maintain professional communication with parents and other staff
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Work with a teaching team to write monthly newsletters
  • Complete observations and assessments 3 times a year using TS Gold
  • Use assessments to prepare, plan, and lead parent-teacher conferences in the fall and spring
  • Help plan and lead family nights including back-to-school night
  • Send home sick children
  • Compliance with all company policies and procedures as well as any regulatory requirements
  • Other duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • We are willing to train the right person.
  • Must have taken the infant and toddler theory and practice college course (ECE 1111) or Expanding Quality in Infant and Toddler Care (EQIT) or a similar course that will meet the state qualifications, or the ability to complete ECE 1111 or EQIT within 6 months of hire or next available course offering.
  • Knowledge of infant and toddler development and willingness to stay up to date with current best practices
  • Must meet the qualifications for an Infant Program Supervisor or Infant Early Childhood Teacher or must be willing to obtain this certification within 6 months of hire.
  • Must demonstrate an interest in young children and a concern for their proper care and well-being.
  • Flexibility to care for children of all ages birth-5 years
  • Ability to maintain a calm demeanor under stressful situations
  • Ability to maintain professional communication with parents, supervisors, co-teachers, and assistants
  • Ability to work cooperatively with a teaching team to create a safe and cognitively stimulating environment
  • Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with children, colleagues, and parents
  • Ability to work for extended periods of time standing, walking, kneeling, talking, and sitting on the floor
  • Routine sanitizing and disinfecting of toys and surfaces
  • Ability to adhere to all health and safety policies and program policies and procedures
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS The Infant and Toddler Caregiver must be qualified as an Infant Program Supervisor, an Infant Program Early Childhood Teacher, or be willing to obtain this certification within 6 months of hire. These qualifications are from the CODE OF COLORADO REGULATIONS 12 CCR 2509-8 Social Services Rules. The Infant Program Supervisor qualifications must be met by satisfactory completion of:
  • A Registered Nurse, licensed to practice in Colorado, with a minimum of 6 months of experience in the care of infants or A Licensed Practical Nurse, licensed to practice in Colorado, wicredited college or university with completion of a minimum of 30 semester hours in the development and care of infants and toddlers in a group setting or An adult who is currently certified as a Child Development Associate (CDA) and has completed the department approved Expanding Quality in Infant and Toddler Development Course of training. An adult who holds a current Early Childhood Professional credential level III version 2.0, as determined by the Colorado Department Of Education and has a minimum of 9 months (1365 hours) of verifiable full-day experience in the group care of infants or toddlers, and Has completed one three-semester-hour class in infant/toddler development; or, Has completed the department-approved Expanding Quality in Infant and Toddler Development and holds twelve months of verifiable full-day experience working with infants and/or toddlers.
  • An adult who is as at least nineteen (19) years of age, and, Is qualified as an Early Childhood Teacher and, Has a minimum of 9 months (1365 hours) of verifiable full-day experience in the group care of infants or toddlers; and, Has completed at least two (2) three (3)-semester hour college courses from a regionally accredited college or university on the development and care of infants and toddlers in a group setting, one (1) of which must be infant/toddler development, or the Department approved Expanding Quality In Infant And Toddler Development course of training.
The Infant/Toddler Program Early Childhood Teacher qualifications must be met by satisfactory completion of:
  • Eight (8) hours of orientation in the infant program from the Infant Program Supervisor including, but not limited to, the following topics: toys and equipment, appropriate activities for infants and toddlers, appropriate sleep positions for infants and toddlers, the safe and appropriate diaper change technique; and, At least six (6) months of experience in the care of infants or toddlers; and, Meet qualifications for an Early Childhood Teacher found at section 7.702.44, a, or be qualified as an infant program supervisor.
The base hourly pay range below represents the low and high end of the Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation's hourly pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel. The range listed is just one component of Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include many region-specific benefits. Steamboat Springs area base hourly pay range: $20.00 - $26.00 per hour PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to lift, carry, and position children up to 40 pounds
  • Must be able to work for extended periods of time standing, walking, kneeling, talking, and sitting on the floor
  • Must successfully complete background & fingerprint check
