Job Summary and QualificationsAs the Infection Prevention Coordinator, you will work with the Infection Prevention Manager in the development and maintenance of the Infection Prevention, Surveillance and Control Program. This role includes coverage over both inpatient and outpatient departments. You will monitor laboratory values, work with computer systems, complete rounding on patients and staff, work with statistical analysis, trends and monitor outcomes.
* You will help coordinate all infection prevention related activities
* You will conduct and evaluate surveillance systems for both community-acquired and healthcare-acquired infections
* You will use data to drive performance improvement activities to reduce infection risk
* You will plan and conducts epidemiological investigations and research related to infection prevention and implements interventions based on results
* You will work alongside Infection Prevention staff and other departments to develop and/or update policies and procedures
* You will communicate information/data to departments, medical staff and committees
* You will collect, report and manage data as required by the Texas Department of State Health
* You will assist in educating on the principles of infection prevention for all staff in clinical, ancillary and support areas, including orientation and continuing education programs
* You will monitor clinical practices related to high-level disinfection, water-borne pathogen management, and all other infection control procedures
* You will intervene in problematic infection prevention situations, assesses infectious conditions and implements appropriate control measures
* You will regularly communicate with physicians regarding patients clinical information, pre-and post-hospitalization, relating to healthcare-acquired infection surveillance
Experience
* 2 years of experience in an acute care hospital setting
Education
* Bachelor of Science - required.
* Masters degree in related field (Nursing, Microbiology, Epidemiology) preferred
Licenses and Certifications
* Current State of Texas Registered Nurse (RN) license or Compact Registered Nursing License. If Compact License Texas license must be obtained within 90 days of hire
