Job Description
As an Infection Preventionist V, you will play a pivotal role in developing, implementing, and managing infection prevention and control programs to ensure the safety and well-being of patients and staff. Utilizing your expertise in epidemiology, you will conduct surveillance, identify infection control issues, and deliver educational programs while aligning with local, state, and federal regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities
- Infection Prevention Program Management:
- Develop and implement infection prevention and control programs, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal standards.
- Conduct routine on-site assessments of clinical spaces and infection prevention practices.
- Monitor infection cases against an annual prevention plan and align with CDC and NHSN standards.
- Surveillance and Data Analysis:
- Proactively identify and monitor infection control issues, disease outbreaks, and pandemics.
- Conduct surveillance programs to analyze rates, trends, and exposure.
- Synthesize findings from investigations and escalate to leadership as needed.
- Education and Training:
- Design and deliver infection prevention and control educational programs for hospital staff and clinical teams.
- Address customer feedback and learning needs to enhance training materials and methodologies.
- Performance Improvement:
- Evaluate infection prevention programs to identify improvement areas.
- Participate in performance improvement initiatives and committees.
- Recommend and deploy tools and methodologies to drive continuous improvement.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Certification: CIC certification is required within 24 months of hire.
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years in infection prevention, clinical quality management, or a related field.
- Healthcare/professional experience:
- Master's degree with at least 5 years of experience (including 2 years in a directly related field), OR
- Bachelor's degree with 7 years of experience (including 4 years in a directly related field), OR
- Registered Nurse (RN) with 9 years of experience (including 6 years in a directly related field), OR
- Minimum of 10 years in a directly related field without a degree.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
- Infection control expertise, including surveillance, hazard mitigation, and emergency preparedness.
- Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in health care compliance, data analytics, and outcome evaluation.
- Familiarity with laboratory procedures and bloodborne pathogen protocols.
