Position Purpose

The Manager of Infection Prevention and Control provides leadership and oversight over the development, integration, and implementation of Infection Prevention and Control programs in coordination with medical, nursing, and ancillary leadership across Holy Cross Hospital.

What you will do:

  • Responsible for designing, leading and maintaining an infection prevention and control program throughout Holy Cross Hospital and services that is consistent with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's recommendations, Joint Commission Standards, OSHA and DOH regulations and current published literature in the field of Hospital Epidemiology.

  • Works in conjunction with the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Chief Nursing Officer (CNO), Chief Quality and Patient Safety Officer, Director of Clinical Quality Management, Medical Director of Infection Prevention and Control, Infection Control Coordinators, and other organizational leadership to manage the Infection Prevention and Control program across the Holy Cross Hospital continuum of care.

  • Oversees trending, analysis and management of occupational exposures in cooperation with Workplace Health, and provides oversight to screening and immunizations

  • Collaborates with public health agencies in development and oversight of biologic disaster preparedness plans

  • Facilitates the development, implementation, evaluation, and sustainment of specific, measureable, and evidence-based initiatives to protect patients, colleagues, and the community from healthcare associated infections.

  • Develops and reviews institutional policies, procedures and guidelines related to infection prevention and control

  • Ensures that departmental goals are compatible with, and enhance the hospital and integrated organization's mission, values, and strategic initiatives related to Infection Prevention and Control.

  • Interacts with physicians, nurses, department managers, supervisors, and occupational health and other professional/non-professional staff members to provide resource information, resolve issues related to infection prevention and control, and identify new opportunities to improve service and reduce costs.

  • Keeps abreast and knowledgeable about ongoing and emerging Infection Prevention and Control topics, regulatory requirements, and quality and reporting metrics as determined by CHE Trinity, the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, local, state, and national health departments.

  • Manages department in a cost-effective manner by accurately forecasting budgetary and staffing needs, and manages expenses within budgetary constraints. Performs financial/value analysis of programs and related initiatives.

  • Provides necessary reports to Holy Cross Hospital's senior leadership team and/or appropriate committees related to quality, safety, and process improvement.

  • Oversees the daily operations of the Infection Prevention and Control Program and manages and ensures the competency of department staff within established guidelines.

  • Ensures quality and safety initiatives are in compliance with accreditation and regulatory standard and applicable laws

  • Performs other responsibilities as required to meet evolving organizational needs.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education

Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Licensed RN in the State of Florida is required.Preferred: Advanced or Master's level degree, e.g. Healthcare Administration, Public Health, etc.

Credentials/Licensure

Minimum: Certified in Infection Control (CIC) Preferred: Fellow of the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (FAPIC) Fellow of the Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America (FSHEA) Related Experience Minimum: 3 Years Infection Control Coordinator experiencePreferred: 5 Years Infection Control Coordinator experience. Experience in formal management role. Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Minimum: Proficiency in the core competencies as defined by the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology (CBIC)Problem solving and analytical skills; ability to identifying and articulating improvement opportunities.Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to collaborate, negotiate and partner with diverse audiences from leaders to frontline colleagues.Experience developing curriculum and training material utilizing adult learning principles. Self-motivated and self-directed in fulfilling assigned tasks/responsibilities with proven ability to work independently and as a team member. Ability to work under deadlines and handle multiple detailed-oriented tasks in the midst of frequent change.Personal presence that is characterized by a sense of humility, honesty, integrity, team-first orientation, and caring with the ability to inspire and motivate others to promote the philosophy, mission, vision, goals and values of Trinity Health.Familiarity with standard desktop and windows based computer system, including email, e-learning, intranet and computer navigation. Skilled in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint. Ability to aggregate, sort, analyze and present data and information in a logical meaningful way for discussion by others. Ability to use other software required to perform essential functions.
