Title: Information & Assistance Specialist
Civil Service Title: Community Service Worker
Reports To: Division Manager, ADRC
Function: Works within the Division of ADRC and supports Division Manager along with working in cooperation with office staff, other county staff and the general public, to provide information and assistance.
Responsibilities
Duties & Responsibilities:
Assist Division Manager as back up for various Disabled and Aging responsibilities and/or tasks within the Division.
* Provides provision of specific information or assistance to or on behalf of individuals, or links them, with information on services available within the community; and provides follow up when necessary to ensure all concerns have been addressed.
* Utilize approved database to capture all required components of the contact as well as to enter unit(s) of service delivery documented directly within the Call Summary along with other assigned aspects of assistance as required.
* General knowledge about all programs the Office offers.
* Develop a rapport with the individual utilizing appropriate listening and communication skills.
* Prepare clear, sound, accurate information. For example, client notes, monthly report.
* Fill in coverage for front desk on an as needed basis.
* Conduct Outreach presentations though out the County.
* Conduct home visits as needed.
* Assist with SHIP related questions as needed.
* Required to attend and complete various trainings - for example County and/or State.
* Perform all other responsibilities assigned.
Qualifications
Requirements:
Education: Bachelor's degree (major in Social Work or related field a plus)
Experience: One year of experience performing complex administrative support work or in working with the aged and/or disabled population.
Language: Bilingual - Spanish
Will be require to become a SHIP trained counselor within the first year of employment based on available training dates
Must possess a valid New Jersey driver's license
Will be required to learn to utilize various computer programs: SAMS, Word, Excel for example.
Must be organized and self-motivated.
Ability to carry out recurring assignments independently and in accord with established procedures, policies.
Ability to develop and maintain effective work relations with supervisors, co-workers.
