Description
Under the direction of the Office Manager, provides clerical and registration activities to ensure the prompt and efficient care of the patients. Supports and follows through with the vision, mission, goals and objectives of Family Healthcare of Hagerstown.
Responsibilities and Duties
* Employee consistently addresses patients in a professional manner as they approach the Information Desk.
* Updates EPM system to indicate when a patient has arrived and is ready to be checked in.
* Assists with scheduling walk-in patients, using departmental guidelines, with no more than two errors per month.
* Knowledge of the clerical functions such as faxing, taking messages, copying records, and computer usage.
* Responsible for distributing Medication Assistance Center medications, as well as controlled substance prescriptions. Consistently puts note in EHR system noting distribution.
* Responsible for appropriately addressing incoming telephone calls, scheduling patients within departmental guidelines and verifying insurance coverage.
* Maintains confidentiality of patient and departmental information.
* Assists patients with completion of medical record request forms, refill requests, and medical questions.
* Demonstrates positive interpersonal skills in encouraging and supporting coworkers. Role models effective and positive communication skills

Requirements
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Graduation from high school with commercial/business courses or the equivalent required. Graduation from Medical/Secretarial program preferred.
Experience:
Computer skills and experience required. Medical terminology required. EMR experience preferred. Must have excellent communication skills as well as the ability to speak, write and understand the English language. Must be able to work independently.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL EFFORT:
Physical:
Minimum physical effort required. Sitting position with occasional walking, bending, lifting, pulling and reaching. Normal vision and hearing required.
Mental:
Frequent periods of concentration and attention to details with frequent opportunity for diversification of tasks. Frequent
interruptions. Sensory requirements include the ability to articulate and comprehend the spoken English language, in addition to being able to read and write the English language.
ENVIRONMENTAL AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed in a modern well-equipped environment. Interfaces with fellow employees on a daily basis. Uses office equipment daily, multi-line telephone, fax machine, copier, shredder, and computer.
