South Seattle College is looking to hire an Information Desk Specialist (Program Specialist 2) in the Student Services department.
Salary Range for this position is $45,900.00 to $58,368.00 annually.

Position Summary
Under the supervision of the Dean Student Success and Registration, the Info Desk Specialist will be responsible for providing a variety of administrative and support services for Student Services Teams and Guided Pathways Initiatives. The Information Desk, located in our Robert Smith Building Lobby, serves as a key location and contact for current students and campus community who need assistance identifying the correct department to answer questions.
This position cultivates a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere by actively engaging with students, staff, and visitors. Ensuring everyone feels valued and supported by providing friendly, approachable, and attentive service. Contributing to student's sense of belonging by listening to individual needs, offering guidance, and connecting people with appropriate resources and services.
This position has primary responsibility for greeting and triaging students, staff, and visitors to the Robert Smith Building Lobby, checking-in students for appointment and drop-in services, issuing ID Cards for students and staff, assisting with student engagement activities, maintaining the student services lobby, and coordinating Student Services division communication updates.
The Info Desk Specialist may supervise student workers and hourly staff ensuring the execution of excellent customer service. Customer service is delivered in a variety of methods, including responses to live chat, phone calls, emails, walk-in/drop-in questions, campus tours, etc.
This position is typically scheduled for working Monday through Friday 8:00AM to 5:00PM. The schedule may vary depending on program needs. May be required to work evenings and weekends as needed. This position works 100% onsite during open business hours.
This position is governed by a collective bargaining agreement with representation by WFSE and is subject to union shop provisions.

* Info Desk Operations
* Assist new and current students in scheduling appointments and checking in for drop-in services with Student Services teams. Handle student matters and emergencies with confidentiality and discretion.
* Review and update website content related to the Information Desk and ID Card Services.
* Adhere to ID card issuance processes, maintain the ID machine, and ensure all necessary supplies are available.
* Keep the Information Desk fully stocked with essential materials, such as handouts, brochures, maps, and calendars.
* Develop and maintain a data collection system to analyze trends and report findings.
* Create and update tools and resources to assist staff across campus in accurately triaging students between departments.
* Support department efforts in organizing and coordinating student engagement activities, such as calling campaigns, Welcome Week events, and collaboration with the peer mentor program on quarterly projects.
* Additional Responsibilities
* Assist in training and supervising student employees and hourly staff to ensure excellent customer service at the Information Desk.
* Participate in cross-training and provide support to other Student Services areas and functions as needed.
* Availability for evening and weekend work as required to meet College needs, including registration and special events

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey information in emails, correspondence, and presentations.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) with experience in spreadsheet and database management.
* Ability to read, write, and present information effectively in various formats.
