Compensation: $26.49 - $34.28 per hour

Overview:

A premier international law firm partnering with OnLibra is seeking a long-term, temporary Information Knowledge Specialist to assist with research due to the expansion of its operations, particularly with the opening of a new office on the West Coast. This is a fantastic opportunity for a knowledgeable and skilled information professional with expertise in legal research. The role will initially require in-person training, followed by a hybrid work schedule (3 days in-office per week).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct extensive legal research in multiple areas of law, including Intellectual Property (IP), corporate law (M&A, capital markets, finance), and litigation.
  • Support knowledge management services and information center operations, assisting attorneys and staff with legal research needs across various practice areas.
  • Perform research using key legal research databases, such as Bloomberg Law and Intelligize.
  • Provide research support for legislative matters, focusing on IP law (patent, trademark, copyright) and IP-related M&A transactions.
  • Collaborate with team members to manage high volumes of legal work due to the firm's expansion, ensuring timely delivery of research findings and data.
  • Assist in the preparation of research reports and summaries for internal use, facilitating informed decision-making for attorneys.
  • Ensure that all research is documented and stored in accordance with the firm's knowledge management and legal research protocols.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • MLS, JD/MLS, or JD with demonstrated experience in legal research and knowledge management.
  • Strong understanding of legal research methodologies and tools, particularly in IP law, corporate law, and litigation.
  • Experience using Bloomberg Law, Intelligize, and other legal research databases.
  • Familiarity with intellectual property law, including patent, trademark, copyright, and IP-related M&A.
  • Ability to conduct in-depth research in complex legal areas and communicate findings clearly and effectively.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Attention to detail and high levels of accuracy in research outputs.
  • Familiarity with knowledge management principles and best practices in a law firm environment.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a law firm or legal research setting.
  • Knowledge of corporate law and litigation.
  • Comfort with hybrid work environments and flexibility to adapt to firm needs.
