Criterion Systems is looking to hire an Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) Manager. This lead serves as the primary support personnel for the team of ISSEs and Cyber Analysts and will also help to support the Cyber Security team lead on most technical matters involving the Cyber Security Team. The ISSE lead will help to coordinate the ISSEs' technical efforts to ensure that the team is meeting the expectations of the Federal Cyber Security oversight. This individual will help to initiate, plan and direct the work activities of a professional team composed Information System Security Engineers and Cyber Security Analysts and will work with the Information Systems Security Officers and Cyber Security Training coordinators, as well as the Federal leads to facilitate the work of the team. This role will also handle some individual system Information System Security Engineer responsibilities some additional deputy team lead duties where needed. Duties, Tasks & Responsibilities
- Coordinate and assist with the management of Cyber technical activities.
- Work with project schedules to ensure Cyber technical objectives are met, schedules are on target, and communicate to Team Lead and Federal Oversight where projects might be encountering difficulties.
- Review project deliverables for integration issues prior to inspection and/or acceptance by the Government
- Interface with other project and support teams to understand initiatives and communicate issues to ISSEs and Team Lead
- Balance ISSE workload and utilize team resources to ensure that the team can meet customer expectations.
- Work with project contractor and Cyber Security Manager to successfully integrate project deliverables into the IT environment
- Ensure that the Enterprise Cyber Security Tools are maintained, licensed, updated, and functioning at optimal levels.
- Assist with audit preparation and engage in audit activities.
- Assist with implementation of corrective action plan milestones as directed
- Assist with the management and coordination of team resources to ensure successful and on-time delivery of customer requirements
- Help ensure that contractor work products meet or exceed Federal customer requirements
- Assist with the design, implementation, operation and maintenance of the Cyber Security Program incorporating the risk management framework based on NIST and CNSSI Guidance at the direction of the Federal Customer.
- Spearhead the evaluation, procurement, implementation, and configuration of new tools and technologies to help safeguard customer data and improve team efficiency.
- Assists with the design and operation of related continuous monitoring and improvement activities to ensure compliance both with DOE and NNSA security policies and applicable laws and regulations
- Assists with or helps to commission suitable information security awareness, training and educational activities
- Assist with activities relating to contingency planning, business continuity management, IT disaster recovery and Incident Response.
Required Experience, Education, Skills & Technologies
- US Citizenship
- Active Top Secret Clearance, Department of Energy (DOE) Q Clearance OR the ability to obtain that level of clearance.
- Six (6) years of full-time work experience in information technology, security, and personnel management and/or related functions (such as IT audit and IT Risk Management)
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, or four (4) years of work experience to be used in lieu of degree.
- Some travel required up to 10%.
- Applicable certification or the ability to obtain it within 6 months; the Information System Security Engineer Lead maps to the NICE Cybersecurity Workforce Framework roles of Vulnerability Assessment Analyst, System Security Analyst, and System Testing and Evaluation Specialist. For Example, the CASP+ certification from CompTIA meets the above certification requirement.
- Demonstrate specialized experience applying the principles, practices, and techniques used by information systems security personnel.
- Strong attention to detail; Ability to synthesize several types of guidance into a single implementation.
- Effective communication and presentation skills (i.e., ability to present ideas effectively in formal and informal situations in group and individual settings).
- Strong planning, organizational, and time management skills (i.e., ability to effectively plan, organize, and prioritize work, and to control and follow up to assure work completion).

Work Schedule
Pay Rate
- The projected compensation range for this position is $125,000 - $160,000. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Criterion Systems considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
