Under the Fair Labor and Standards Act this position is exempt from overtime. Actual salary placement will be in accordance with the salary procedures of the Frederick County Public School System. Please see linked salary scale for the full range. Role To provide training for end users on the secure and efficient operation of FCPS technology and software applications. To be responsible for assisting with development, testing, implementation and management of processes relating to systems and technologies used by FCPS. To provide continued improvements to the existing processes, training delivery and training materials to enhance staff knowledge and effective use of technology and systems. Essential Functions Reporting directly to the Supervisor of Technology Infrastructure and Security the Information Systems Technology Trainer performs, at a minimum, the following duties:
- Assessing agency-wide developmental needs to drive training initiatives and identifying/arranging suitable training solutions.
- Effectively develop, coordinate and present training and development programs for FCPS
- Communicating with different levels of users across the organization, effectively executing application use and training for existing and evolving technologies.
- Provide Department of Technology Infrastructure (DTI) staff instruction on new and existing technologies and techniques.
- Incorporate adult learning methodologies into design and delivery of content.
- Apply Instructional Design best practices into the development of courses and programs.
- Accommodate multiple learning styles into course design.
- Define achievable, observable, and measurable learning objectives (skills) into training programs
- Provide DTI staff guidance on effective means of educating end users such as using the train-the-trainer model to create DTI subject matter experts who can then teach others
- Develop and maintain recurring security awareness training for staff
- Coordinate efforts with Security and Public Affairs to develop strategies and maintain consistent messaging across the organization
- Conduct training needs analysis and define the skill sets needed to accomplish different roles
- Design training programs which equip employees and end-users with the appropriate technology skills
- Develop a suitable mix of formal and informal development activities
- Perform technology training sessions for IT department staff & end users as required
- Responsible for the set-up of the learning environment and resources
- Deliver training program in group and or online (e.g. e-learning and webinar) settings.
- Supporting FCPS users in utilization of all computer software functionality.
- Training users on applications & supporting technologies; maintaining and updating training materials, user guides & use of leading-edge training methodologies including written, computer-based training and video media.
- Utilizing leading-edge training methodologies including written, computer-based training and media such videos and podcasts.
- Create and maintain all levels of technical and process documentation.
- Coordinate with users for effective utilization of the software programs.
- Participates in staff meetings, supervision, trainings and other meetings as assigned.
- Will seek continued knowledge in existing and new technologies and applications.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Supervisor of IT Infrastructure and Security.Required Qualifications
- Minimum of two years' experience in the development and delivery of training is required. One+ years' previous experience providing Information Technology support (desktop, application, help desk, network technician support, etc.)
- At least one IT related certification, A+, Network+, Security+, etc.
- Ability to plan, coordinate and execute training and department initiatives.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with technology applications.
- Ability to make decisions independently based upon experience, judgment, and established departmental procedures and policies.
- Advanced verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to effectively interface with employees, vendors, company representatives, and other stakeholders.
