Information Technology Manager Freedman HealthCare LLC (FHC) is a growing Massachusetts-based consulting firm with a national footprint. Job Summary: The IT Manager is a part-time position and oversees our technology infrastructure, manage IT operations and ensure the delivery of quality IT services and excellent security to our growing staff of approximately 40 healthcare consultants and analysts. The day-to-day work will involve managing IT policies, procedures and documentation and managing projects that are implemented by the third-party IT solutions firm, which provides support services for our user laptops, network, Azure servers and workstations, Microsoft Exchange services, Outlook, Teams and SharePoint. The IT Manager will also coordinate the work of FHC's security partners and web developer. The work will be performed online and via video (e.g., Teams). Some legacy IT equipment is located in the Greater Boston area. Some of our work uses data subject to HIPAA; prior direct experience with HIPAA is desired, but a strong background in cybersecurity will be an acceptable substitute. A background check will be performed. The IT Manager reports to the CEO. Duties/Responsibilities: IT Operations & Support

  • Lead day-to-day IT operations and provide strategic oversight of technology infrastructure
  • Working closely with our managed services provider (MSP), oversee maintenance and ongoing regular improvements of the following:
    • Functionality and security of virtual servers and user laptops
    • Functionality and security of VPN and common cloud resources (SharePoint, Teams, etc.)
    • Virtual server(s) maintenance and upgrades
    • Testing of file server recovery procedures
    • Third party security review and penetration testing
    • Other Enterprise or IT projects, as required
  • Oversee the FHC Azure virtual machines (VMs), including:
    • Periodically review partitioning, files and folders on the FHC Azure File Server and work with the IT services provider partner to remove old and duplicate files found unnecessary to keep
    • Managing IT services provider's creation of additional Azure VM instances for client analytical projects, and related backup and destruction services.
    • Managing IT services provider's work on maintaining the analytical and programming environment on client-project Azure VMs with relevant software such as SAS, SQL Server, Tableau, and Python.
  • Manage user access rights and permissions across all systems
  • Coordinate technology setup for new employees, including hardware provisioning and software access
  • Oversee maintenance and updates of the FHC websites
  • Respond to and resolve IT-related issues for employees, coordinating with IT vendors when appropriate.
IT Strategy
  • Advise FHC leadership on matters of system architecture, cybersecurity, threat response and other high level issues involving IT systems
  • Oversee IT-related equipment and software purchases (hardware and software)
  • Advise on new and replacement hardware and software
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare industry regulations regarding technology and data security
IT Partner Oversight:
  • Serve as primary point of contact for Managed Services Provider and other IT service providers.
  • Oversee delivery of services by the MSP and other IT and security partners, including coordination of infrastructure upgrades and maintenance
  • Manage vendor contracts, including invoice approval
Documentation and Training:
  • Maintain and develop, as needed, IT policies, procedures, and documentation
  • Provide initial IT orientation and training for new staff members.
  • As requested, lead additional staff training in all aspects of IT management.
  • Revise, as needed, onboarding and other educational material for new and existing staff.
  • Revise and maintain data backup and recovery policies
  • Review third-party security reports, maintain internal security policies security documentation as delivered by consultants
  • Maintain accurate inventory of all IT assets, including hardware and software licenses
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Knowledge of, experience with and genuine interest in Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Entra/Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange, features of Microsoft business products
  • Experience managing cloud-based IT services with attention to security and budget
  • Experience with managing and administrating Teams and SharePoint sites
  • General IT business sense
  • Cybersecurity planning, oversight, and compliance experience
  • Organizational and process-development skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent time management skills. Ability to self-regulate and prioritize tasks appropriately
  • Documentation skills
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in an IT-related field
  • Two years of cloud-based services management experience
  • Security and privacy responsibility experience
  • Authorized to work in the US
  • Located in the Greater Boston area
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
