POSITION OVERVIEW

The IT Manager is responsible for the strategic oversight and leadership of the IT team and expected to ensure the reliability, security, and scalability of IT systems while delivering excellent service to Charter Research team members. The IT Manager is expected to bring professional experience and organization to make valuable contributions that align the IT strategy with the business strategy in a fast paced, entrepreneurial culture.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive IT strategy aligned with the company's business objectives.
  • Ensure the reliability, availability, and security of all IT systems and applications at Charter Research's current and future locations.
  • Manage IT procurement, vendor relationships, and asset inventory.
  • Supervise the delivery of IT support services to end-users, ensuring prompt resolution of issues and requests.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive IT documentation and knowledge base articles.
  • Formulate and enforce IT security policies and procedures to safeguard company data and systems.
  • Manage project budgets, timelines, and effectively communicate project status and risks to stakeholders.
  • Stay informed about emerging technologies and industry best practices to identify opportunities for improvement and innovation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; coaching and mentoring employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the assigned department.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to analyze issues, think critically, and solve problems.
  • Proven ability to identify and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Proficiency in cybersecurity best practices and risk management.
  • Ability to generate, collect, and analyze data to understand trends, identify issues, and make informed decisions about IT systems and infrastructure.
  • Ability and willingness to work both strategically and hands-on in day-to-day operations.
  • High motivation and strong work ethic to grow and improve the company's IT systems.
  • Strong management, planning, and organizational skills.
  • QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in IT management, with 2+ years in a leadership role.
  • Proven experience in managing and implementing IT projects, including budgeting and resource allocation.
  • Experience with IT Service Management (ITSM) best practices and frameworks, IT asset management, and IT procurement processes.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel should include the ability to create, use, edit, and format data, formulas, and charts to analyze and present data.
  • Industry certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, MCSA, CCNA) are a plus.
  • PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at times.
