- Two to five (2-5) years of responsible experience in systems and security administration, technical support, and user training; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
- Class D Massachusetts motor vehicle operator's license at time of hire.
- Background check and fingerprinting required for access to secure areas.

- Monitor, review and analyze log files and network traffic for suspicious activity, including potential incidents and network intrusions.
- Identify potential threats, define, and implement measures to defend against them.
- Work with the CTO on conducting security audits, making policy recommendations, and developing and updating disaster recovery protocols aligned with security policies and legal, regulatory and audit requirements.
- Support the CTO in the development, testing and regular evaluation of the information technology incident response plan (IRP) and incident security plan (ISP).
- Implement network security policies, protocols, and requirements.
- Perform vulnerability and penetration tests and work with cybersecurity vendors as needed to complete this work and improve processes.
- Assess the existing security posture and recommend areas of improvement.
- Research emerging trends, threats, and vulnerabilities to aid in the identification of network incidents and recommend security best practices.
- Maintain current knowledge of information security technologies and expand scope of knowledge by performing research, attending security forums, presentations, and formal trainings. Keeps abreast of security trends and alerts.
- Engage with the CTO, IT staff, department heads and Town administration on the development and implementation of security best practices.
- Manage cybersecurity awareness programs, train employees in security awareness and procedures, and promote a safe and secure user experience.
- Utilize the help desk software to accurately enter, maintain, track and close communications involving support requests in a timely manner.
- Additional responsibilities can include assisting with IT operations such as the monitoring and testing of backups, installing system and security updates, managing Active Directory security and user groups, permissions, group policy and individual user accounts, as well as the support and configuration of firewalls, antivirus, and endpoint applications.
