Information Technology Specialist 3 - Programming Department: IT Business Solutions Location: Albany, NY Apply by: All applications must be submitted by 5:00 pm on Sunday, December 22, 2024. Position Summary The Information Technology Specialist 3 - Programming will serve as a key applications, interfaces and configurations developer on the ERP Solutions team. The incumbent will work with end users and other stake holders to design, code, test and debug applications within the PeopleSoft and Workday platforms. In addition, the candidate will utilize web services to integrate PeopleSoft and Workday with various third-party applications. The candidate will serve as a mentor to junior development staff and may be assigned supervisory duties. Minimum Qualifications EITHER: 1) Reachable on the Civil Service eligible list; OR 2) Eligible for reassignment by virtue of having permanent competitive service as an Information Technology Specialist 3-Programming (SG-18); OR 3) Eligible for transfer under the provisions of the Civil Service Law by virtue of having one year of permanent competitive service in an appropriate title. Preferred Qualifications At least two years of applied experience in application development and the secure systems development lifecycle. For The PeopleSoft OR the Workday platforms At least two years of experience with platform programming At least two years of experience with the relevant toolsets and application design workbenches At least two years of experience with batch programming At least two years of experience with SQL on Oracle or other major RDBMS platforms Experience with developing integrations with third party applications including the use of Component interfaces, SOAP or REST services and REST API-s. At least one year of experience developing applications using one of the following technologies MSFT .Net, Java, PHP, C++, Python, Ruby Functional knowledge of Public Sector HCM including Payroll, Pension, Actuary processing. Job Duties The duties of the Information Technology Specialist 3 - Programming include, but will not be limited to, the following: Participate as a team member on a variety of projects including determination of time frames for assigned tasks, completing assigned tasks, assisting in unit and system testing and post-implementation support of the system Assist in the analysis of user requirements such as information gathering, participating in requirements interviews, documenting existing systems and processes, documenting requirements and developing detailed specifications Program and provide technical support for application modules and various implementation phases of application systems. This will include coding, testing, installation and documentation of the system-s functions.
