Smith High School is seeking a motivated, enthusiastic, and team-oriented individual who can contribute to our school as our Information Technology Specialist. The information technology specialist is a highly skilled IT professional who is responsible for working cooperatively with the high school's IT coordinator, school administration, and other employees to ensure that computing infrastructure and school software systems are fully operational, optimally configured, and fulfilling the academic and administrative objectives of the high school. This individual partners with the school's IT coordinator to have a portion of ownership for being the technology leader at certain interdepartmental meetings and on special school initiatives. The Information Technology program supports, enhances, and promotes student learning through access to state-of-the-art educational technologies. Every student directly uses technology throughout the curriculum and extracurricular activities, and all staff integrate it into instruction and operations. The Information Technology team provides superior customer service to ensure students and staff consistently leverage reliable tools and resources in support of academic excellence, personal achievement, and integrity. The E.O. Smith Information Technology team is comprised of four full-time on-site professionals that collaborate to meet the needs of the school. Additionally, the team is also supported by the wider town and Mansfield Board of Education I.T. Department. QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or equivalent technical training or experience. Experience with technology, network management and design in at least a mid-sized enterprise network. Knowledge of computers, networks, and a wide-range of software programs. Experience in scripting and basic programming skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills, and organizational skills. Skilled in proactive planning and managing strategic initiatives. HIGHLIGHTED IT SPECIALIST RESPONSIBILITIES: Configure, design, install, upgrade, and maintain enterprise infrastructure, including: switches, routers, firewall, wireless access points, servers, local and cloud storage, virtual private network, web filter, secure socket layer (SSL) certificates, security cameras, battery backup, data rack systems, data/voice cabling, and other department Internet of Things (IoT) devices. Deploy and manage physical server and virtual platform environment, including: operating system, hardware and software application installations. Manage software integrations for both local and cloud-based solutions. Manage local domain and cloud Microsoft services: Active Directory, Azure, Group Policy, Domain Name System (DNS), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), Federation Services, Update Services (WSUS), Routing and Remote Access Services (RRAS), and File and Print Management. Manage Google Workspace for Education cloud services and security. Manage enterprise email services and gateway. Manage enterprise-level local and cloud-based backup systems, performing: daily, periodic and archival backups and restorations. Manage department centralized management applications and services. Manage end-node device security and updates through central management systems to ensure best practices. Collaborate with Information Technology Technicians to manage automated installations for software programs to be distributed via enterprise device management solutions. Collaborate with Information Technology Technicians in support of their duties that interact with enterprise systems. Advise supervisor on replacement and improvement to the enterprise infrastructure. Collaborate with Information Technology team in the effort to continually meet cybersecurity requirements and improve systems security. Carry out proactive planning and manage strategic initiatives. Keep abreast of the latest trends in technologies related to the field. This individual partners with the school's IT coordinator to have a portion of ownership for being the technology leader at certain interdepartmental meetings and on special school initiatives. Maintain a customer-friendly and highly respectful relationship with all members of the school community. Interact thoughtfully with members of the school community including: teachers, staff, administrators, vendors, students, parents and members of the public. SALARY: In accordance with the agreement between the Region 19 Board of Education, the 2024-25 salary range is $83800 - $102700.
