Apply Now!• This position is a TERM position NOT to exceed 2 yrs. but may be extended or lead to a permanent position.• Up to 40% telework possible.• Up to 25% Travel possible.• Retiring or retired members of the Armed Forces to positions in any DoD Component during the 180 days immediately following retirement may only be made in accordance with DoDI 1402.01 and may require a waiver for appointment prior to the 180 days from official military retirement.This position has a typical 2024 salary range of $104,887 - $136,357 (includes locality).Qualifications/Requirements:The primary purpose of this position is to serve as senior Information Technology (IT) Specialist and consultant management in support of installation IT policy and plans.• U.S. Citizenship.• May occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.• May be required to be on call and/or to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.• This position meets the administrative exemption criteria for the Fair Labor Standards Act (5 CFR 551.206).• Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance.• Serves as an Air Force (AF) expert on software, hardware, and network architecture technologies to establish long-range plans and strategy for the development or acquisition of IT and telecommunications.• Validates and approves IT and network systems architectures, baselines, and milestones. Assesses impact of assigned programs and projects on field organizations which have assumed responsibility for maintenance of major information systems following development.• Participates in discussions, meetings, committees or special projects and presents briefings and prepares recommendations and reports.RECRUITMENT KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSA):• Mastery knowledge of IT systems and network architecture and design principles, concepts, protocols, and system operations and maintenance concepts and methods to coordinate the Implementation of networks that support mission requirements.• Knowledge of Air Force/ DoD IT disciplines, methods, regulations, policies, and products and services with the ability to lead IT systems development projects from design to support. Knowledge of basic contracting requirements, computer systems acquisition regulations, practices and procedures.• Broad knowledge of the business requirements of customer organizations, skill in applying multiple IT disciplines, and the ability to evaluate the effectiveness of installed systems and services and to provide advice on and devise solutions to a wide range of IT issues.• Ability to recognize and analyze problems, conduct research, summarize results and make appropriate recommendations and ability to research, analyze, interpret, and apply rules, regulations, and procedures.OTHER REQUIREMENTS/SIGNIFICANT FACTS:In order to qualify, you must meet the requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Information Technology (IT) Management Series, GS-2210 (Alternate A). Must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below: Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication, and Problem Solving AND one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-12 (or equivalent in other pay systems) which includes application of advanced IT principles, concepts, methods, standards, and practices sufficient to accomplish assignments such as develop and interpret policies, procedures, and strategies governing the planning and delivery of services throughout the agency while provide expert technical advice, guidance, and recommendations to management and other technical specialists on critical IT issues.
