Job Summary

The IT System Administrator ensures the continuous operation, security, and optimization of the company's IT infrastructure. This role encompasses daily operational support, infrastructure maintenance, network management, Wi-Fi and internet services, system operations, backup processes, and support for IT project implementations. The role also involves budget planning, adherence to ITIL and corporate standards, and providing comprehensive IT support services for The Apparel Group.

Duties and Responsibilities

Infrastructure Maintenance and Support

  • Maintain and support servers, storage, Nutanix infrastructure, network devices, and related hardware/software.
  • Manage and maintain Windows Active Directory (AD), including user account management, Group Policy, and permissions.
  • Oversee DHCP and DNS Server configurations to ensure seamless network connectivity.
  • Administer VPN solutions to provide secure remote access for employees.
  • Implement and follow asset inventory processes to ensure accurate tracking of IT resources.

Network, Wi-Fi, and Firewall Management

  • Manage network configurations, including LAN, WAN, and Wi-Fi, with knowledge of Juniper MIST for Wi-Fi systems.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot network performance and connectivity issues, with a solid understanding of Cisco switches.
  • Configure and manage Palo Alto firewalls to ensure network security and control access to resources.
  • Collaborate with network and security vendors for any hardware upgrades, repairs, or configuration adjustments as needed.

System Operations and Backup Management

  • Administer daily operations across all system environments (Windows, Linux, virtualization platforms).
  • Implement and maintain robust backup processes for data protection and recovery, adhering to company standards.
  • Support Nutanix infrastructure management, including monitoring, maintenance, and optimization.

Warehouse Operations Support

  • Manage IT equipment for warehouse operations, including tablets, Zebra tablets, and printers.
  • Oversee tablet and printer configurations, maintenance, and troubleshooting to ensure smooth warehouse operations.
  • Coordinate with warehouse teams to support device usage and resolve any technical issues promptly.

IT Support Services for TAG and New York Office

  • Provide IT support services to ensure efficient operations and troubleshoot issues for The Apparel Group offices.
  • Ensure that all IT services for The Apparel Group, and maintain consistent support for systems, applications, and network requirements.

Internet and Communication Services

  • Oversee internet connectivity, ensuring a stable and secure connection across the organization.
  • Support telephony systems and other communication tools for seamless connectivity.

Project Assistance and Budget Management

  • Assist in planning and executing IT infrastructure projects according to management requirements.
  • Participate in budgeting and financial planning for IT resources, with a focus on cost control and optimization.
  • Follow ITIL processes and TAL standard procedures in all project planning and execution phases.

Adherence to ITIL and TAL Standards

  • Follow ITIL best practices for incident, problem, change, and asset management to ensure consistent service delivery.
  • Ensure that TAG operations and IT practices align with TAL standards, maintaining compliance in all IT operations and projects.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Technical Proficiency: Expertise in Windows Active Directory, DHCP, DNS Server, VPN, Juniper MIST Wi-Fi, Cisco switches, Palo Alto firewalls, and warehouse device management (tablets, Zebra tablets, printers).
  • ITIL Knowledge: Familiarity with ITIL processes and how to apply them in daily operations.
  • Backup and Recovery: Proficiency in data backup strategies, recovery protocols, and storage management.
  • Budget Management: Experience in IT budgeting and cost optimization.
  • Problem-Solving: Skilled in troubleshooting and resolving complex IT and device issues.
  • Communication: Strong skills for collaboration and user support.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in system administration, network management, Windows Active Directory, and Nutanix infrastructure.
  • Certifications (preferred): ITIL Foundation, CompTIA Security+, Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA), Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA).

Travel

  • Some travel required within the United States. Less than 25%.
