Qualifications:
  • State Department of Education approved industry certification/credential, and Secondary Certificate endorsed in technical education, or business education, or marketing education, or business administration, or business/marketing education (0L9), or Current Alabama Teacher's Certification or ability to obtain or hold Alabama Teacher's Certification, Bachelor's Degree or higher, with appropriate endorsement in Technical Education within the Career Technical Education Division.
  • Willingness to complete and maintain certification in one of the following areas:
  • C Programming Language Certified Associate (CLA)
  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA)
  • Microsoft Technology Associate (TWO areas required)
  • Knowledge of Local and Wide Area Network design and administration. Experience with routers/switches and related protocols, hubs, firewalls, intrusion detection systems, dial-in communications systems, communication circuits, cabling backbone systems, and encryption devices.
  • Knowledge of emerging technologies as related to the integration of voice and video on data networks. Essential Duties:
  • To establish and maintain an Information Technology - Programming and Software Development Academy.
  • To establish a classroom environment favorable to learning and personal growth
  • To motivate students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide an educational foundation in Information Technology.
  • To establish and maintain a positive and on-going working relationship with core academic teachers in order to integrate curriculum and instruction.
  • To provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary for a realistic understanding of the work environment and to enhance employability skills.
  • To provide students with information concerning career options in the Information Technology - Programming and Software Development Program.
  • To teach all content standards.
  • To promote the school's Information Technology Academy to students, parents, teachers and community.
  • To recruit students into the Information Technology Academy and to encourage students to attain concentrator and complete status.
  • To select, organize, distribute, and maintain materials and equipment for the school's Information Technology Academy.
  • To sponsor Skills USA, TSA, and/or FBLA student organizations.
  • To complete, maintain, and submit Career Tech records and documentation on time.
  • To attend Career Tech meetings, professional development activities, and functions.
