Description General Summary:Under the supervision of the Information Technology Director, installs, configures, troubleshoots and maintains a variety of computers and peripheral equipment including local area networks (LAN), monitors, printers, and other hardware and software. Provides user hardware and software related training and support. Performs other related work as required.Essential Functions:
Provides technical, user assistance and training support related to computer hardware and software. Responds to user questions and concerns, and assists in interpreting user needs and implementing solutions. Conducts hardware and software training with users. Troubleshoots equipment problems. Diagnoses and resolves problems and malfunctions related to personal computers and peripherals. Inspects and tests equipment to determine feasibility of repair. Installs replacement parts as necessary. Installs and maintains a variety of equipment. Assists departments in setting up terminals, personal computers, printers, and other peripheral equipment. Loads software and upgrades as needed. Recommends changes in hardware, software and utilities as appropriate. Performs computer operations involving system start-up, shutdown, back-ups, and other operations associated with information processing. Communicates with service representatives on computer malfunctions. Installs network cabling and network equipment including managed switches, routers and other equipment. Manages and configures network equipment, both wired and wireless, for resource access and network security. Provides system management and administrative services including regular system back-up. Performs purges and restores libraries/files as necessary or requested. Sets-up, maintains, and deletes user profiles, ensuring proper system access and security permission. Analyzes and interprets logs on a multitude of servers/systems for performance monitoring, security and server and network efficiency. Maintains and configures the IP phone system. Creates, maintains and deletes user accounts. Troubleshoots phone equipment problems. Researches and evaluates new software and hardware technologies which could enhance the computer system and contributes to information technology purchasing decisions. Supports and maintains county web site, e-mail server and accounts, and overall security for internet connections. Serves in an on-call capacity for computer system emergencies. - A Bachelor's Degree with a concentration of course work in computer science and information systems.
Experience:
- One year of experience in the installation, setup, troubleshooting and maintenance of computers and peripheral equipment, and in providing technical user support for computer hardware and software.
Other Requirements:
- Microsoft or Cisco certification is highly desirable.
- Michigan Vehicle Operator's License.
