Position Overview:
We are looking for an Injection Molding Manager who will serve as the cornerstone of our injection molding operations. This individual will take on a leadership role, building and implementing systems, managing production schedules, and acting as the primary point of contact for all production order-related questions. You will collaborate with the quoting team, oversee scheduling, and ensure projects are delivered on time while fostering strong customer relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Growth: Build and manage the injection molding department, including recruiting, training, and mentoring team members. Establish and maintain systems to support the department's growth and efficiency.
- Customer Interaction: Serve as the main point of contact for all production order-related inquiries, including project status updates, scheduling, troubleshooting, and design consultations. Ensure strong, effective communication with customers to drive satisfaction.
- Quoting & Scheduling: Collaborate with the quoting team to develop accurate cost estimates and establish realistic project timelines. Own project scheduling and maintain delivery dates to meet customer requirements.
- Process Development: Establish robust injection molding processes using scientific molding principles and optimize production for efficiency and quality.
- Scrap Reduction and Optimization: Drive continuous improvement initiatives with a focus on reducing scrap, improving operational efficiency, and implementing cost-saving opportunities.
- New Product Launches: Oversee the introduction of new molds and products, including mold validation (IQ, OQ, PQ), troubleshooting, and production ramp-up.
- Continuous Improvement: Analyze production performance data and implement root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective actions to improve operational efficiency.
- Collaboration: Work closely with tooling and maintenance teams to troubleshoot and resolve mold and equipment issues, ensuring smooth operations.
- Technical Expertise: Utilize PFMEA and advanced injection molding techniques to develop and optimize processes that ensure high-quality production. Demonstrate expertise in processing various resins, resolving mold-related issues, and supporting new product launches by applying a deep understanding of injection molding equipment and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in injection molding and process development (10+ years preferred).
- Knowledge of validation protocols (IQ, OQ, PQ), PPAP, and troubleshooting injection molding processes.
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage a growing department.
- Expertise in scientific molding principles, PFMEA, and lean manufacturing.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and strong expertise in Microsoft Office products.
- Exceptional project management, scheduling, and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication skills with a customer-first approach.
- A strong track record of experience in injection molding and related fields is preferred.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience working with quoting teams to develop cost estimates and schedules.
- Familiarity with resin testing and mold flow analysis software (e.g., Moldex3D).
- A track record of implementing systems and processes in a growing organization.
